We are excited to invite you and your students to visit The Gallery at Saltwater Freshwater Arts Alliance (SWFWAA) as part of your school’s journey to deepen understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures. With the new Aboriginal Languages K–10 syllabus rolling out, The Gallery provides a valuable, immersive experience that aligns with the NSW curriculum’s cross-curriculum priority strand, fostering respect, connection and cultural knowledge.
SWFWAA is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers a dynamic program of art and cultural activities across the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, celebrating the heritage and contemporary creativity of the Gumbaynggirr, Dunghutti, Biripi and Worimi peoples. With nearly half of the Aboriginal population in our region under 19 years old, cultural preservation and revitalisation are critical. Our mission is to empower Aboriginal communities by nurturing social, cultural, and economic development through arts and culture.
The Gallery, located at 6 Park Avenue in Coffs Harbour, serves as a central hub for showcasing the art and culture of local Aboriginal communities. It offers hands-on educational programs that encourage students to explore history, culture, and heritage through art, storytelling, and language. School excursions are available throughout the academic year, every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays from 10 am to 12 pm commencing Term 1 2026.
