We’ve been making weather observations at Reading since 1901. Today we have well over a century’s worth of unbroken daily records, including temperature and rainfall.
Although we still make use of ‘traditional’ sensors such as glass thermometers and their like, today most of our instruments are fully automatic, and information is logged by computer every second of every day. The wide range of observatory instruments and their records over time provide a valuable teaching resource to the department and the community as well as continuing our long climate record.
The tours are open to all (ages 8 and up), but booking is essential as places are limited.
Admission free. Booking essential. To book your place complete the details below and click Submit.
