The next few pages of this survey will provide you with multiple opportunities to get involved with the following ministries at Avondale:

Ministry Team: WORSHIP

Share your gifts by contributing to our weekly Sunday morning service.
Most of these opportunities are available each week. Please indicate your choices:

Worship- Set Up work with a team of 2-3 on Saturday to set up for Sunday worship.Greeter - warmly welcome all who come to worship each Sunday. (Approximately 5 times a year, on rotation.)Scripture Reader – share the word of God during worship on Sunday morning.Flower Team – our team rotates bringing flowers to worship each Sunday.Creative Arts – work with our team to create enhancements for our worship through the year.

Ministry Team: MISSION

The Mission Ministry Team shows God's love to our wider community.
Mission activities vary throughout the year. Select as many options as you would like to participate with:

Offer Input – participate on the committee to offer input and help determine how Avondale is called to serve in the community.Take Charge – organize or oversee a single mission activity.Get to Know Others –serve in a more interpersonal way in which you have ongoing contact with someone.Help Those in Need – donate goods for back-to-school drives, holiday gifts to the needy, etc.Room in the Inn –serve our homeless neighbors by cooking meals, driving the van, helping set up or clean up, or spending the night at the church with our guests; we host up to 12 homeless neighbors in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday evenings from December -March.Blood Drive – organize and promote the Blood Drive on Good Friday (April 18).Other

Ministry Team: OUTREACH

Ministry Team: MEMBER CARE

Our community is built on how we show God's love to one another.
Help care for Avondale's community in these ways:

Meals – prepare and deliver family meals (recovering from illness, surgery or sympathy).Funerals – help set up and prepare refreshments for funeral receptions.Card Ministry – send cards for birthdays, sympathy, get well, thinking of you.Deliveries – help deliver items (food, flowers, etc.) at different times of the year.Other

Gathering and using the gifts of God's resources.
Encourage and empower others to support the church:

Join Us – participate in the Stewardship Committee, which encourages members to use their time, talents, and treasure to further God’s kingdom.Speak Out – speak to the congregation about the importance of stewardship.
Ministry Team: Music

Make a joyful noise... and have a lot of fun!
All are welcome to join BOTH, if they would like:

Choir – all are welcome to join our choir. We meet and rehearse on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm.Handbells – join us on Thursday from 7:00 - 8:30 pm for ringing. Never played handbells. That’s no problem! We will gladly teach you.

Fun and fellowship are vital to a vibrant life of faith!

Join the Team -- join us in planning fun gatherings to foster fellowship among our members.
Ministry Team: Christian Nurture

All of the wonderful programming at Avondale comes from this team. Jump in and help out, share your ideas, or even start something new!
Sunday School – build an environment of Christian discovery on Sunday mornings; help in the rotation of teachers of a preschool or elementary aged class. You’ll learn as much as you teach!Vacation Bible School – nurture our children by helping with our week of summer Vacation Bible School (July 28 - August 1).Avondale Adventures – help during our Wednesday evening children’s program with dinner, Bible study, crafts, games, and music; held in the spring and fall.Nursery – volunteer in our Nursery on Sunday mornings alongside paid staff to care for and nurture our littlest ones.Stations of the Cross – assist with our Stations of the Cross event on Good Friday (April 18) in the Sacred Garden.World Labyrinth Day – promote and participate in activities to be held at Avondale’s very own Labyrinth (May 3).Share Your Ideas – join the team to envision, develop and carry out a variety of programs that foster spiritual education and Christian development in our members.

Ministry Team: Property

Our beautiful campus is a gift from God. Join this team to help keep our buildings and grounds in top shape!

Join the Team – help ensure that our church buildings and grounds are in good condition and welcoming for members and guests.General repair and maintenance (replace light bulbs, keep garden fountain clean and functioning, support painting projects, take care of landscaping not handled by landscaping contractor)Skilled Helper: PlumbingSkilled Helper: ElectricalServing as point of contact for vendors (investigate issues, obtain estimates, oversee work, etc.)

Support our office staff!
The personnel committee requests volunteers to help cover the front office when Fay Palmer is out. Skills needed are answering the phone, greeting visitors, and occasionally offering assistance to other office staff.
