  • POSITION OVERVIEW: Capital Public Radio in collaboration with Associated Students, Inc. seeks bright, dynamic and motivated intern who want to gain hands-on, resume-building experience in public radio. Intern provides administrative and production support to various departments of Capital Public Radio. By the end of the internship, the student will have a better understanding of and appreciation for public radio operations.

    ABOUT US: Capital Public Radio's mission is to provide a trusted source of information, music and entertainment for curious and thoughtful people in efficient, sustainable ways that meet their needs while strengthening the civic and cultural life of the communities we serve.

    Associated Students, Inc. serves as the official governing body of the Sacramento State students and through operation and sponsorship of programs and services meets the varied needs of students. They provide experiential education, leadership opportunities, student representation, various business and recreational services, campus life programs and activities that support the campus and greater Sacramento community.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Through the internship program, the student will work at the Capital Public Radio station on campus and rotate in the departments of Capital Public Radio. The intern will actively participate in the activities of the department they are placed in and will work closely with Capital Public Radio staff and the community. Actual day-to-day duties will be determined by Capital Public Radio. Upon completion of the internship, the student shall then present a portfolio or report of their work to the CPR Director of Human Resources and Internship Coordinator, and to the ASI Board of Directors prior to the last Board Meeting of the internship semester.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent writing skills, the ability to communicate professionally, an interest in the media is preferred. Reliability, professional demeanor and appearance, and an interest in a broadcasting, journalism, public policy or related career are essential qualities of the ideal intern.

    The internship program/scholarship is open to all CSUS students who meet the following criteria:

    1. Must be in good academic standing with the University at time of application.
    2. Students must have completed at least one semester at CSUS at time of application
      1. Undergraduate students must hold at least a 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) and be enrolled in a minimum of at least six units
      2. Graduate Students must hold at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) and be enrolled in a minimum of at least three units
      3. Recently graduated students (must have graduated at least three to six months following the conclusion of the most recent academic term)
    3. Students must be available to intern for at least 8 hours a week, for 1 (one) academic semester.
  • POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

    • 1 (one) Spring Semester intern

    AWARD:

    • 1 (one) Spring Scholarship of $2,000 (upon completion of the internship)

    To be considered for this internship, applications must have the following elements completed:

    • Completed P.R.E. Application Form
    • Current resume
    • Copy of tentative 2026 Spring Semester class schedule and work avaliability
    • A one page, double spaced essay in response to one or more of the following questions:
      1. Why are you interested in an internship at Capital Public Radio?
      2. What do you hope to gain from your CPR internship?
      3. Define your core strengths and skills.
