If enrolling in a video exam, candidates enrolled through TRCM must submit their videos to admin@thecon.com.au within 14 days of enrolment to ensure sufficient time for uploading to AMEB.

Please avoid leaving the recording and submission until the last minute.

Video files are often too large to send as email attachments. Instead, services like Microsoft OneDrive or Dropbox can be used to generate a shareable link. If you need assistance with sending large files, please contact the Office.

Accompaniment

Piano accompaniment is required for all exams (except Piano/Organ/Guitar exams or if enrolled in an exam that allows backing tracks - certain grades and subjects only).
Conservatorium students under the age of 18 must use a Conservatorium-approved accompanist, as outlined in the Accompaniment Policy (available on request from the Office). The Con will recommend a suitable accompanist.
For best results, the accompanist must be provided with originals (or legal and legible copies) of the accompaniment score no later than Friday, 6 June 2025.
1. Please ensure that adequate rehearsals are scheduled.
2. If more notice is required due to the difficulty of the accompaniment, the student will be advised by their teacher.
Rehearsal and performance fees will be billed to the parent through the Office. Parents are not to pay accompanists directly.
Parents will be contacted after enrolments close to notify them of their child's allocated accompanist. Please contact the Office to arrange times for rehearsals.

The length and number of rehearsals will vary according to the exam grade. The following table is a recommendation of the number of rehearsals that may be required - your teacher can provide more tailored advice.

Preferred accompanist
If you have been accompanied before, you may prefer to continue working with the same person. While we cannot guarantee this person will be available, we will take preferences into consideration before allocating accompanists.

Workshops and pre-exam concerts
Candidates are encouraged to participate in workshops and concerts in preparation for their exam to gain valuable performance practice.

The Con will be holding its annual AMEB Workshops on Saturday, 31 May 2025. Candidates are broken up into Level 1 (Preliminary to Grade 4) and Level 2 (Grades 5 to 8) to develop their General Knowledge, Sight Reading and Aural skills.

The Winter Concerts are designed especially to provide a performance opportunity for AMEB and HSC students in preparation for their exams. This year, they will be held Sunday, 27 July.

The Con will cover the cost of one 30-minute accompaniment rehearsal for candidates performing in the Winter Concert.

The City of Tamworth Eisteddfod is held in June and provides another opportunity for students to perform their pieces in a supportive environment.
