  • The Pearls of Lake Houston Educational and Charitable Foundation proudly announces its 2025 Scholarship Program! We are excited to have the opportunity to help students achieve the coveted goal of earning a college degree.

    We aims to reduce the accessibility gap between prospective college students and higher learning institutions by providing scholarships to deserving students in Humble,  Sheldon, Huffman, Channelview, Galena Park, and New Caney Independent School Districts.  

    The Foundation shall provide scholarships ranging from $500 to $2500 to selected students who meet the below eligibility requirements. To be considered for a scholarship award, please submit all items listed in the Application Requirements Checklist below. The Application Requirements must be uploaded as directed below, no later than 11:59 April 15, 2025 or printed and mailed, post marked by April 15, 2025. Mailed to:

    Scholarship Amounts: 

    Platinum Awards: $2500  

    Gold Awards: $1500  

    Silver Awards: $1000  

    Bronze Awards: $500 

     

    Eligibility Requirements:  

    Applicant must: 

    (1) be a graduating high school senior in Humble ISD, Sheldon ISD, Huffman ISD, Galena  Park ISD, Channelview ISD, or New Caney ISD; 

    (2) have maintained at minimum an overall 2.5 Grade Point Average (on a 4.0 point scale); and

     (3) before release of funds, submit verification of Fall 2025 full-time enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university or an accredited community college.

     

    Application Requirements Checklist: 

    ☐ Completed application 

    ☐ Application Agreement, signed and dated 

    ☐ Media Release Form, signed and dated if agreed 

    ☐ Two (2) Letters of Recommendation from teachers, community leaders, clergy, coaches, or  managers/employers (providers shall not be blood relatives of Applicant)

     ☐ Unofficial high school transcript 

    ☐ Personal statement- Please include a one-pager introducing yourself, explaining your academic major and why you are applying for this scholarship. Below are some examples of what your essay might include:  

     (1) Academic Achievements: high grades, projects, awards and honors

     (2) Extracurricular Activities: describe volunteer work, leadership roles, clubs and community service

    (3) Personal Story/Career Goal: Share a story that demonstrates your resilience, overcoming challenges, future aspirations, and financial need)if applicable

    **Applicants applying for Ruby J. Anderson Harrison “Against All Odds” Scholarship: Add a Short paragraph to the “Personal Statement” explaining what the obstacle was and how he/she has preserved**

    General Information

    (1) Incomplete applications will not be considered. 

    (2) The decision of the judges is final.

    (3) Scholarship winners will be notified no later than April 25, 2025 and invited to attend a reception on June 12, 2025. 

  • Legacy Partnership Scholarships:

    1. Helen G. Parks Tenacity Scholarship $1,000: Female student of color, with tenacity from single family household.

    2. The Sydney And Shelby Morrison Scholarship $2,000: Students with 2.5 GPA or better on 4.0 scale - African-American student - Student attending an HBCU

    3. Disability Partnerships $1000: The student must have a documented disability to obtain this scholarship. The disability could include ADHD, ADD, dyslexia or any physical, developmental or intellectual disability.

    4. Eric T. Montgomery Memorial Scholarship $700: Major in engineering or engineering technology

    5. Elijah and Diana White $1,000: Open to All Applicants

    6. “By Culture and By Merit” Scholarship $1,000: GPA Requirement: 2.5

    7. Iris I. Nickie Health Services Scholarship $1000: Specific to Summer Creek High School, Demonstrable community service, Demonstrable participation in health service/science volunteer program, GPA 3.3 or greater, Recommendations of good standing, Successful intent interview

    8. Tonia Birdsong Morrison STEM Scholarship $500: African-American/Black student attending a 4-year college/university majoring in engineering

    9. The Gabriel Ikeakor Legacy Scholarship for Black Excellence $1,000: Black/African American, Demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and strong moral character. GPA of 3.0 or Higher – Shows commitment to education and success.  College Acceptance – Plans to attend a 2-year or 4-year accredited college/university.  Driven & Purposeful – Exhibits resilience, determination, and a clear vision for the future.  Leadership & Community Service – Engaged in school, extracurricular activities, church, or community programs.

    10. SU Alumni Impact Scholarship $1000: High School Senior, Minimum 2.5 GPA, Plan to attend Southern University and A&M College after High School

    11. Ruby J. Anderson Harrison "Against All Odds" Scholarship $1000: Must have applied to and/or been accepted by Prairie View A & M University, Must have overcome an obstacle. Short paragraph explaining what the obstacle was and how he/sheperserved, 3.0 Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Media Release Form

  • The Pearls of Lake Houston Educational and Charitable Foundation may publish images, videos,  photographs, or other media regarding its service projects and programs, including those related to scholarships awarded.

    Applicant is a minor (under age 18):

I understand that such reproductions may be used to publicize or promote the  Foundation and/or its efforts or objectives through media outlets (e.g. website, social media,  printed and/or online brochures, etc.). I waive any right to inspect and/or approve the finished  product and do release the Pearls of Lake Houston Educational and Charitable Foundation from  any liability by virtue of distortion by processing. I further agree that any such items may be  used for publication, broadcast or reproduction without limitation or reservation or any fee.  

    Applicant of age 18 or above:
