Introducing the YETI Green Leaders Scholarship Presented by Green Is the New Blue.
A total of $5,000 in SCHOLARSHIPS will be awarded this season!
Five (5) individual $1,000 Scholarships
Applications open on March 13 and close May 15, 2025.
Winners will be notified directly and announced in early June in IEA and GNB social media and press releases. Questions can be submitted to: SCHOLARSHIPS@RIDEIEA.ORG.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- To be eligible for the YETI Green Leaders Scholarship (presented by Green Is The New Blue), applicants must be active members of the IEA in the 24-25 competition year and must also be registered participants in the Green Leaders Program.
- This leadership award is open to any 2024-2025 IEA Hunt Seat, Western, or Dressage Youth Members in Grades 4-12. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the IEA.
- Applicants will be judged on required membership elements (IEA and Green Leader) and 25% on resume / 25% on recommendation letter / 50% on video submission.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Applications will be submitted via this JotForm and all attachments must be received by no later than 11:59pm on May 15, 2025.
- Resume: Not to exceed one page (12 pt font) that highlights leadership experience, particularly in equestrian activities and in conservation/preservation/sustainability.
- One recommendation letter from your IEA Coach or teacher who is familiar with your work as a Green Leader.
- Applicants will submit a 90-second video that gives an overview of what they have done this season to impact their equestrian community to be more conscientious in their sustainability practices. This submission will be judged on content/clarity/impact/creativity. Video can be an overview report or slideshow with information, text and/or narration accompanying photos that depict their project(s). Projects can be ideas already offered within the Green Leaders Program (eg: Building a Living Jump / Spreading the #BringYourOwn movement, designing signage for eco-reminders around your barn, active recycling projects and so forth), or they can be NEW initiatives designed by the applicant.
The video should address the following questions:
- What makes your green leadership important?
- What are you doing now in terms of your environmental action items?
- What are your goals in the future to bring forward sustainability and green initiatives?
- Phone videos are perfectly acceptable and should have clear audio and video quality. A link to your video must be provided in this JotForm. We recommend uploading your video using Vimeo, You Tube, or Google Drive to create a link. Links from social media will NOT be accepted. Videos should be 90 seconds or less in order to be considered. Please check that the permission on the video will allow access to the judging panel. (Anyone with the link can access it.)
- All videos must be submitted with the express permission of the applicant and parent/legal guardian that it can be shared and used for promotional purposes of conservation by Green is the New Blue and/or IEA. Applicants will be required to check this box on the JotForm.
