The Emmaus Road Homeschool is a Christian homeschool co-op for high school students, meeting twice per week for in-person class instruction. Some classes are taught only once per week, as noted below in the schedule. 

7th grade and younger students are not permitted to register or apply. Only for special exceptions will 8th grade students be considered for registration on a case-by-case basis. We love middle school students, of course, but the grade restriction exists to preserve the intended relational and developmental age boundaries for high schoolers.

Giving them "their own" four-to-five year age range is important for their social, emotional, academic, and spiritual development. It is not required that a student be a Christian by personal confession and belief, or that the student be a member of a local Christian church, but the school is distinctly Christian and teaching and activities shall reflect that Biblical worldview conviction. Attendance in chapel (Tuesdays & Fridays, as offered) or other corporate prayer meetings is required if students are on campus at the times those take place. 

**Students may not leave campus during chapel or lunch unless they have no classes for the remainder of the day or a parent or guardian has taken them off campus for that time period.**

Tuition is paid for Sept - May, and class tuition payment(s) is due upon registration directly to the teacher. August classes are included in the September tuition. No August tuition is charged. A student is not guaranteed placement in a class until the first month of tuition is paid. Full payment for December is due, regardless of the 2-week Christmas break.

Registration, Facility Fee, Tuition Structure, and Refunds of Tuition for Dropped Classes
$245 per student is due with registration, as follows:

Registration is $145 for the year after June 15. There is no discount for multiple students being registered. The registration fee is non-refundable and due with this form submission. Early registration ends on June 15. 

If you register your child for only one class and that class is canceled for any reason before school begins, then you will be refunded for the registration and facility fees, as well as tuition paid. 

Late Registration begins at 12:00:01 a.m. on June 16. Late registration fee is $145.

A facility use fee of $50 per student per semester is also due for the full year at registration ($100 due). Should a student withdraw after the first term, the second term's fee will be refunded. 100% of the facility fees go to our host location for facilities maintenance, utilities, and bathroom supplies.

Tuition: unless otherwise noted, each class is $85/student per month for Sept - May. The tuition is due by the first of the month. Some families prefer to pay for the term, and that is acceptable. 4 months for the fall term, Sept - December, and 5 months for spring, Jan - May. 
A late fee of $20 will be charged for tuition payments not paid by the 5th of the month. Teachers are not expected to waive the late fee simply because someone forgot to pay the tuition by the due date. Be mindful to pay on time.

Registration is not complete without registration fees and students fees paid. The student's enrollment in any class for which the student was registered is not confirmed and secured until the first month's tuition is paid directly to the teacher (or to the school, as the teacher may instruct).

At this time, the bank account for The Emmaus Road accepts only PayPal as a pay service feature. Please do not use the Venmo link. We will attempt to add other methods and confirm to you when that has been done. 

Payment for September classes are due to the teacher immediately after registration (any August classes are considered part of the Sept payment). Please use your bank's bill pay service and set up automatic payments to your teachers. Credit card payments are not accepted. You may also use services like Zelle, Venmo or Paypal (with recurring payments scheduled) if your teacher can accept that method. If the teacher will accept hand drawn checks or cash, you may arrange that.

There is no billing by The Emmaus Road for tuition due to the teachers. Tuition payment is the responsibility of the family and each teacher.

Refunds for tuition paid during the term:
If a student withdraws from a course before the next month's classes have begun, then no tuition shall be due for unenrolled months. Full tuition shall be paid to the teacher for the month in which the student drops the course, regardless of the week of the month in which the student drops.

By registering your student(s) for classes at The Emmaus Road Homeschool, you agree to support your student's educational efforts and disciplines, support the leaders and teachers as they reasonably request, serve as you're reasonably available to participate as an adult monitor, and hold harmless from liability charges the leaders and teachers of Emmaus Road as specified in the liability waiver to follow.

Medical Release
I (we) hereby give permission to the leaders and teachers of The Emmaus Road, as well as staff of Trinity Presbyterian Church, to make decisions about medical care for my (our) son or daughter deemed necessary at the moment to save life or limb and to administer such care. This shall include calling for emergency services, reasonably administering medication (like Epipen), performing CPR, and so on as deemed necessary. I agree to not hold responsible the leaders, teachers, staff or agents of the facility for injuries which may occur in the administration of medical care.
Liability Waiver*
By any and all of the actions associated with registration (selecting classes, submitting family and student information, completing forms, and signing below), I (we) freely accept and fully assume responsibility for all damages and risks to myself (and/or ourselves) and to our student(s) and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting from participation with The Emmaus Road Church & Homeschool ("Emmaus Road"). In consideration for being allowed to participate in The Emmaus Road classes, events, and activities, on and off the campus of Trinity Presbyterian Church, located at 3151 Union Ave., San Jose, CA 95124, I agree on behalf of myself and my next of kin, heirs, and representatives:

1. To waive any and all claims for personal injury including death, illness, physical and/or psychological injury, property damage, economic or emotional loss, and negligence of The Emmaus Road, Trinity Presbyterian Church, and their employees, directors, officers, volunteers, and agents.

2. To release The Emmaus Road, Mark Lauer, Denise Boiko, and any other teachers and volunteer leaders from any and all liability and promise not to sue for any loss, damage, injury death, medical or other expenses that my family or any other party may suffer as a result of our participation, use of facilities due to any cause whatsoever, including travel to, from and during the program activities. 

3. To hold harmless and indemnify The Emmaus Road, Mark Lauer, Denise Boiko, and all other teachers or volunteers from any loss, damages, costs, expenses, claims, liability and obligation for any property damage or personal injury to any third party, resulting from any participation or use of facilities including but not limited to attorney fees and costs. If The Emmaus Road or any of its leaders, teachers, and volunteers incurs any of these types of expenses, I agree to reimburse any and all entities.

4. This release of liability shall be effective and binding upon my family, next of kin, heirs and representatives in the event of personal injury including death, illness, and/or property damage.

5. My family agrees to follow correct safety procedures, any and all posted or spoken rules, warnings, and instructions from any agent of The Emmaus Road when participating in all Emmaus Road activities and when on the campus of Trinity Presbyterian Church.

6. If I (we) need medical treatment, I (we) agree to be financially responsible for any costs incurred as a result of such treatment. I (we) am aware and understand that I (we) should carry my own health insurance.

7. The Emmaus Road has the right to impose any additional conditions needed to further the intent and legal rights and waivers provided here.

This agreement is made and executed in the State of California and shall be governed by, enforced in and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California. I understand the legal consequences of signing this document, including (a) releasing The Emmaus Road and its leaders and teachers, and Trinity Presbyterian Church, (b) promising not to sue either entity, (c) and assuming all risks of participating in these activities, including travel to, from and during the activities. I also understand that this document is written to be as broad and inclusive as legally permitted by the State of California. I agree that if any portion is held invalid or unenforceable, I will continue to be bound by the remaining terms.
Arrive & Exit campus
Students who drive themselves to campus shall sign in at Study Hall if they do not directly go to a class. Students who remain on campus but do not attend a class during a class period shall remain in the Study Hall or other approved location. Driving students shall confirm their departure by signing out of Study Hall and verbally notifying a teacher that they are leaving the campus. If parents or guardians meet a student for lunch or other appointment during the school's hours of operation, the student shall sign out and verbally confirm to a teacher or leader that a parent or guardian has come for him/her and at what time his/her return to campus is planned.

Parents who drop off a student(s) to Study Hall with plans to depart while leaving their student(s) on campus in study hall rather than in a class, shall sign in their student(s) in Study Hall before departing from the campus. Upon pick-up and departure later in the day, the parent will sign out the student from study hall.
