Yagè Ceremony with Paolo Nacua
Dates: April 26th
Yagé Ceremony: A Sacred Journey of Healing and Awakening
Yagé, the revered ancestral brew containing Banisteriopsis caapi, originates from the sacred Putumayo region in the northernmost part of the Colombian Amazon. This land, home to the Siona people, holds a deep lineage of spiritual traditions, passed down through generations of wisdom keepers.
Our guide, Paulo, has spent many years in apprenticeship with the Siona Elders, receiving their blessing to carry this medicine to the North as part of the fulfillment of the Eagle Condor Prophecy. This prophecy speaks of the unification of North and South, symbolizing the balance of the mind (Eagle) and the heart (Condor). It calls us into deep healing, awakening, and reconnection with nature and spirit—rippling outward from the individual to the collective, bringing harmony, balance, and peace to all.
The Ceremony
A traditional Yagé ceremony is held through the night, as the stillness and mystery of darkness invite us to journey inward. It is in the depths of the night that we confront our shadows, illuminating what is ready to be healed, transformed, and transmuted.
Throughout the night, sacred Icaros (healing songs), harmonica melodies, and intentional silences create a container for deep reflection and connection. These elements guide us through the medicine’s teachings, helping us surrender to its wisdom and embrace the insights that arise.
As the first light of dawn emerges, we welcome a new beginning—a rebirth into clarity and renewal. With intentional song and dance, we celebrate the lessons received, honoring the darkness that has led us back to the light. This sacred integration process reconnects us with ourselves, each other, and the spirit of life.
At the close of the ceremony, we gather in a sharing circle, offering gratitude to the medicine, the Elders, our ancestors, and the unseen forces that guide us. Afterward, participants are encouraged to rest, allowing the experience to settle and integrate into their being.
The journey with Yagé does not end with the ceremony. It is a lifelong invitation to embody awareness, healing, and transformation in all aspects of life.
We give thanks to the Siona Elders for carrying these traditions and for entrusting us with the honor of sharing them with those who are called to receive.
Dieta:
Food prescriptions and diets vary according to ayahuasca traditions. However, there is a consensus that good preparation is fundamental to getting the most out of the experience with the medicine.
For this ceremony, we recommend avoiding food from:
14 days before the ceremony until 3 days after: consumption of pork, caffeine, alcohol and other psychoactive drugs.
10 days before the ceremony until 3 days after: sexual relations, fermented foods, spicy foods and canned foods in general.
7 days before the ceremony until 3 days after: cheese, refined sugar and meat in general.
Besides paying attention to the food, it's important to stay focused on your intention for the ceremony in the days leading up to the event, avoiding making big decisions and getting into conflicts.

About Paolo:
Paulo Nacua, born in 1978 in Bogotá, of Muhiska lineage on his mother’s side, and Quillasinga lineage on his father’s side. Historian of the Pontificia Javeriana University, and candidate for Magister in Anthropology from National University of Colombia. Of Paulo’s 46 years of age, he has walked twenty-three in the Ayahuasca Medicine Path with the Siona tribe of the lower Putumayo. He learned, lived and received from the legendary Elder Francisco Piaguaje, the last mojano tiger, and with the Master Javier Lasso Mejia, disciple of Elder Francisco, painter of the spirit, and guardian of the Maloca of the Southern Cross in La Cocha, Nariño. Nacua received instruction for 7 years with the Elder Victor Martinez Taicoma, Chief of the Amazonian Tribe of the Huitoto Murui, from whom he received the medicines of Mambe and Ambil, with which the Mambeaderos are carried out, talking circles where all medicines are woven together. From the Elder Clemente Gaitan, Sikuani Tribe of the Eastern Plains, he received instruction in the Medicine of Yopo. He has traveled sharing rituals and ceremonies in countries like Bolivia, Spain, Germany, Norway, Mexico, and the United States, with pilgrimages to sacred sites like Mount Shasta in California, Lake Titicaca in Peru, and the Pyramids of Teotihuacan in Mexico. At present he resides in the city of Pasto in the south of Colombia with his wife and three daughters.
