City of Calgary Rain Barrel Rebate Program Application

The City of Calgary and Green Calgary have teamed up to provide all Calgarians with an opportunity to receive a $50 rebate/per barrel on up to three rain barrels starting April 1st, 2025.

How the rebate works

Calgarians purchasing rain barrels from any vendor can submit the following application form with original receipts for up to three rain barrels per household and receive $50 per barrel.

Eligible purchases are those made after March 31st, 2025. This program can disburse rebates on a maximum of 5,000 barrels. Once the program is fully allocated it will be closed until further notice.

Privacy

Rebate applications are processed through Green Calgary. Applicant information is not shared with The City of Calgary. Any information collected will be used exclusively for this program, unless stated otherwise by applicants.

We use third party payment processors to process payments. All information in connection with such transactions is provided directly to our third party payment processors including, but not limited to: Plooto and Shopify, and their use of your personal information is governed by their privacy policies. In accordance with our Privacy Policy, we may share your personal information within our Association or with our service providers, including but not limited to our financial, insurance, legal, accounting or other advisors that provide professional services to us. This also includes Jotform, the software hosting our online form.

When you use or sign up for our programs, services, or newsletters, use our Website, become a member, or contact us, you voluntarily give us certain personal information. We may collect certain information from you necessary for us to complete any transactions, provide our services to you, communicate with you, and receive and respond to feedback.

Green Calgary will be issuing the rebates on behalf of The City. Successful applicants will receive their rebate by cheque through the mail or e-transfer. If applicants choose to receive their rebates through e-transfer, the payment will be processed through the 3rd party payment processor, Plooto.

Receipt Submission

Physical receipt submission:

Applicants must write “applied for city rebate” on their original receipts, with the items eligible for the rebate highlighted or underlined on the receipt. Take a photo or scan your receipt after writing the above on it and attach it to this form. Please refer to the photo below as an example.

Online delivery/pick up receipt submission:

Applicants must submit the two following documents:
- Their online receipt and
- A photo of their barrel packaging (address label) or mail slip matching information to the receipt or
- A delivery confirmation from a postal service with matching information to the receipt.
Applicants must have their barrel in hand at the time of applying. Your barrel must already be delivered/ picked up and physically in your residence. Confirmation that your barrel has been delivered/ picked up is required. Therefore, order confirmation and shipping confirmation is not considered valid, as it does not confirm you have received your barrel.

*Sometimes fundraisers or local pop-up sales events are unable to provide proof of delivery/pick up. If this is the case, please contact products@greencalgary.org to discuss an alternative proof of delivery/pick up document.

Green Calgary:

Online pre-order: Attach the invoice you were emailed after completing your purchase.

In-person rain barrel sales event: If you received a physical receipt, attach a photo of your receipt to this form. If you received an email receipt, attach a screenshot or .pdf of your email receipt to this form.
