  • North Carolina Scholastic Media Institute 2025 Registration

  • Join us this summer for NCSMI at UNC-Chapel Hill, June 16-18! This form must be completed by those attending the 2025 Institute. It is designed for school groups, for teachers and advisers to complete one form for all of their student participants. Registration must be completed via this form before payment can be processed.

    DEADLINE: Registration will open March 1 and close at 11:59 p.m. on June 1 -- if space remains available. NCSMI 2025 will cap participants at 200, with priority enrollment to North Carolina schools.

    COST: Registration fee is $200 per person until the May 1 early bird deadline. Registration after the early bird deadline is $300 per person. (Workshop scholarship deadline is May 15. See the Summer Institute Guide at ncsma.unc.edu/institute/ for details.)

    Advisers who register four or more students will be assigned a private room. Adviser registration fee will be waived for advisers who register 10 or more students. Any other single room accommodations will incur a $100 additional fee – if space is available. For payment information, please visit ncsma.unc.edu/payment.

    COMMUTERS: NCSMI 2025 will welcome commuter school groups chaperoned by a journalism teacher or student media adviser. One bus pass per school group will be provided for those wishing to commute. For payment information, please visit ncsma.unc.edu/payment.

    REQUIRED FORMS: NCSMA will follow up with more information about release and conduct requirements to be completed by parents/guardians on CampDoc.

    EMAIL ADDRESSES: We will send important updates to submitted email addresses. Make sure to use an email address you check regularly.

    ACCOMMODATION REQUESTS: Submit 14 days prior to NCSMI.

  • ADVISERS

    The adviser curriculum is recommended for all new advisers, and returning advisers find the sense of community in these sessions especially valuable. Please include home address, phone number and email address of each adviser attending NCSMI.

    NOTE: Advisers who chaperone four or more students will be assigned a private room.

  • STUDENTS

    Enroll each student in only one division. Students will be expected to attend the division in which they are enrolled.

  • Parking

    Each school is allowed one (car/van) parking pass per every five people attending the Institute. Please enter the number of parking passes your school will need. NCSMA is not responsible for any parking tickets. Parking passes will be distributed at registration.

    05/15/2025 – Registration confirms payment owed. You may substitute registrants, but we do not accept cancellations. NCSMI policy allows a 50% refund before June 1. There is no refund on or after June 1.
