CALL FOR MURALIST
THE WALL | Patchogue Arts Council, in collaboration with the Patchogue- Medford Library, is pleased to announce it is accepting submissions from muralists to exhibit a temporary mural on the rear of the Patchogue-Medford Library. The mural will be inspired by the PMLIB 2025 summer reading theme Color Our World. The mural wall is aprox 15'h x 45'L
The mural will be located in a highly visible location on the rear of the Patchogue- Medford Library and will serve as the backdrop to many community activities throughout 2025 - 2026.
Prior experience creating a mural is required. A stipend of $2000 will be awarded to assist in the planning, design, and execution of the mural. In addition supplies are donated from a local vendor and PAC works with PMLIB to produce an artist video and professional documentation of the mural process.
IMPORTANT DATES
April 8 | Submission Deadline
May 1 | Artist Notifications – Chosen muralist will be notified via EMAIL by a PAC representative.
June 1 - 20 | Temporary Mural Installation begins – Artist will be expected to install the mural between these dates before the stipend is released. A base color is applied to the wall before the new mural is created.
Submission Details
• Submissions are due by April 8, 2025. Accepted artists will be notified through email no later than May 1, 2025.
Email Submission Guidelines
• Please submit design plans, materials list, a detailed budget, preparatory drawings, notes, mock-ups, and other materials necessary to complete your mural design.
• All files should be labeled with your name and title of work. Ex: Yourname_titleofwork.jpg
• All artists must include two of the following: CV/ resume, bio, and an artist statement.
• Artists must also include evidence of previous mural experience. (max 10 images)
• Submissions that do not follow ALL of the above guidelines will not be considered.
Important Information
• Submissions should respond to the PMLIB 2025 summer reading theme Color Our World.
• Prior experience involving the implementation of a mural is required. Collaborations are permitted, but only one stipend will be awarded for the completion of the mural.
• The mural must survive unpredictable weather for three + months.
• Submissions should include design plans, materials list, a detailed budget, preparatory drawings, notes, mock-ups, and other materials necessary to complete the mural.
