  • Volunteer Onboarding Overview

Thank you for your interest in serving with The HUB OC! To ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-prepared environment for our kids and families, all volunteers are asked to complete the following onboarding steps:

    1. Submit the Volunteer General Info Section
Fill out your general information so we can get to know you and match you with the right opportunities.

You will be taken to the following sections OR you will be opted out and submit- this will be depending on your selected level of commitment.

The following sections only apply to volunteers who commit to volunteering more than once and with selective demographics.

    2. Watch the Intro Video + Complete the Quick Quiz
Learn who we are, what we value, and how our programs work. A short quiz helps ensure clarity and alignment.

    3. Sign The HUB OC Waiver
A required liability waiver for ALL volunteers. Minors included.

    4. Receive Live Scan Instructions (Fingerprinting)
*Required if you plan to work with kids or volunteer at youth events now or in the future.*
We recommend completing this step early to ensure you’re cleared and ready when opportunities arise. If you do not plan to serve children-only activities, you may skip this step.

    5. Complete Mandated Reporter Training
Required by every volunteer who will be commiting to a more than once experience. Even when serving adult only classes, we are interacting with members of families with children. We are dedicated to a safe environment where staff and volunteers will feel equiped to make reports as needed to ensure the safety of children. This required item is to be completed before volunteering.

    6. Complete Intro to TBRI® Training (Within 30 Days)
This training equips you with trauma-informed tools to better support the families we serve. We recommend completing it as soon as possible. This required item is to be completed within 30 days by individuals serving more than once.

✅ If needed, once your Live Scan results and TBRI training information is received (and no follow-up is needed), your application will be approved, and you’ll be given access to sign up for volunteer opportunities.

We’re so grateful for your willingness to create a safe and trusted space for our community. Your presence matters more than you know!

  • 🔍 Who Needs to Complete a Live Scan?
For the safety of the children and families we serve, certain volunteer roles require a Live Scan (fingerprint background check). You will need to complete a Live Scan if any of the following apply to you:

You are leading a class (e.g., cooking, dance, financial literacy, tutoring, etc.)
You are volunteering at a kids-only event or program where parents are dropping children off and not staying

Note: If it’s a one-time event, you do not need a Live Scan. But if it’s recurring (like weekly tutoring), you do.

Core members must be Live Scanned
Anyone coming more than once also needs to complete it

📌 How to Get Live Scanned:
Call Helping Hands Live Scan to make an appointment. The office is located in Orange, CA.
(Flyer with contact info is attached)
Print and fill out two copies of the Live Scan form

Bring both forms + your government-issued ID to your appointment.
    Show up and get scanned!

The process only takes about 5 minutes.

    🛑 Important:
You must complete the waiver form even if you're only volunteering once.
➡️ If you’ve already filled out a HUB-wide waiver through another program, you do not need to do it again.

If you have any questions or aren’t sure whether you need a Live Scan, feel free to ask! We're here to help walk you through it.

  • Mandated Reporter Training

    Mandated Reporter Training

  • Required for all volunteers who will participate consistently — regardless of whether you're working directly with children or only adults.
At The HUB OC, we serve whole families, which means even if you're volunteering in an adult-only class, you're still engaging with a community that includes children. For this reason, Mandated Reporter Training is required for every volunteer.

This ensures that all staff and volunteers are equipped to recognize and report concerns as needed, helping us maintain a safe, trusted environment for the families we serve.

🕒 Must be completed before your first volunteer shift.
📩 You will receive the training link and instructions via email after submitting this form.
