RULES, TERMS, & CONDITIONS
PARENTS MUST NOTIFY THE KNIGHT SCHOOL (“TKS”) AT LEAST 30 DAYS IN ADVANCE IN ORDER TO DROP A STUDENT FROM CLASS. Only a written notice via email, regular postal mail, or hand-delivered to our home office will be acceptable.
I understand that I am responsible for payment for my student's classes whether or not my student attends class until such time as I give TKS written cancellation notice at least 30 days in advance of the program start-date. I understand my child cannot provide a cancellation notice to their chess coach.
I understand that each TKS staff member has completed a background screening and other training, and I understand that, due to these background checks and prerequisite trainings, for the safety of all children involved, and for insurance purposes, adults are not permitted to accompany children to TKS chess programs.
BILLING AUTHORIZATION
All payments are due at the time of registration. Accounts not paid by 9 days after the due date may be assessed a $15 late fee. Students may not be allowed in class if tuition is not paid by the 19 days after the due date.
I will contact TKS with any billing questions. Should I dispute a charge through my financial institution, this will constitute a breach of contract possibly resulting in, but not limited to, penalties, additional fees, collection, legal action, and/or termination of any and/or all current and future services.
COVID-19 WAIVER
The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is believed to be extremely contagious, may already be widespread in our community, and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. TKS is complying with all government restrictions regarding congregating and has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, I understand that TKS cannot guarantee that my child and/or my family and I will not become infected with COVID-19. By signing and/or accepting this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by engaging in activities such as after-school activities and summer camps. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child(ren) or my family members (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death). On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless The Knight School, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto.
VOLUNTARY CONSENT AND PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE
I understand that TKS, from time to time, produces promotional materials about its programs. I, on my own and on my child’s behalf, hereby give permission for my child to be photographed, videotaped and/or audiotaped for use in print, broadcast, or social media, including brochures, websites, and/or otherwise as deemed appropriate for promotional and information purposes, and authorize TKS and/or its agents, successors, licensees and assigns, the right to photograph and/or videotape my child and utilize my child’s face, likeness, voice and appearance, without limitation or reservation and without any form of compensation. Photos/Videos may be captured in person or taken as recordings of WebCamps, Private Web Lessons, or other online chess programs using Zoom or a similar software. TKS and its agents will not sell its photos/videos for any purpose. I will not make any claims for compensation of any kind for TKS's use or publication of photographs or videos of myself or my child and waive any right or interest that I may have in those photographs or images, on both my behalf and the behalf of my child.
SKILLS-BASED PROGRAM
I understand that The Knight School is a skills-based program focused exclusively on chess instruction, not a day-care center or child-care facility licensed by the state; therefore The Knight School's operation is separate from and not regulated by State Childcare Licensing.
GENERAL RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS
I knowingly and freely assume all involved physical and/or virtual participation risks for all The Knight School's programming, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of the Releasees or others, and voluntarily assume full responsibility for my child’s participation; and I myself, my spouse, my child, and on behalf of my/our heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY INDEMNIFY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS The Knight School; its directors, officers, officials, agents, employees, volunteers, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, licensors, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct classes/events (“Releasees”), with respect to any and all injury, disability, death, or loss or damage to person or property incident to my child’s involvement or participation in these programs, whether arising from the negligence of the Releasees or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
