    About the Trail
  • The Cèilidh Trail gives young people a paid opportunity to receive training to prepare for and then perform traditional music and Gaelic song in their local area.

There are up to six places available on the Argyll Cèilidh Trail. Young people with some experience of playing traditional music and / or singing Gaelic songs and aged 16 (by 30th June 2025) to 25 are invited to apply.

The rate of pay will be £300 per week for a week of training with participants from other Cèilidh Trails plus a 3 week tour around Argyll and the Islands. Fèis Latharna will pay reasonable travel costs and cover accommodation and meals as appropriate during the tour.

Participants may also get the opportunity to work towards a National Progression Award (NPA) in music performance and sound production through the West Highland College.

  • Agallamhan

    Auditions
  • Auditions will be on Saturday 12th April at Glencruitten Church Centre, Oban. If you are unable to attend on that date,  there will  be the option of auditioning via zoom. More information will be sent on receipt of your application.

For the audition, there will be two or three people who are Fèis tutors or Fèis committee who will have a chat with you and ask questions about you, your motivation for applying for the Trail and the personal skills you will bring. You should prepare two sets of tunes and /or songs that you enjoy performing and for the day. You will also have an opportunity to ask the panel any questions that you have.

If selected, the applicant will receive a contract setting out the basis of their employment.

Unless under exceptional circumstances, we expect successful applicants to attend all of the training and performances. Any dates which cause a difficulty should be noted on the application form so we can take this into account when arranging training/tour dates.
