    This scholarship honors the legacy of Hannah J. Green whose life was dedicated to service, leadership and making a positive impact in all her endeavors. From a young age, Hannah demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving others, a trait that only deepened as she grew into young adulthood. She was an avid lover and participant of all things of the Arts. Hannah exhibited honesty, integrity, tenacity, enthusiasm, creativity, and competency in everything she did. She also showed a remarkable blend of kindness, compassion and patience.  Hannah's heart for others was evident in every interaction from lending a hand for other causes close to her heart and by gaining joy in helping others in meaningful ways. Hannah knew that every great achievement starts with a decision to keep going, and she kept going no matter what obstacles came her way. She was the epitome of love and she touched countless lives and will continue by leaving a legacy of love. Hannah was a warrior and warriors don't quit, they rise, push and conquer.

  •  Application Eligibility and Requirements

    All Black/African American high school seniors who attend school in Gwinnett County, Georgia are eligible to apply.

    The application requirements are listed below:

    • Enrollment in a 2 or 4 year accredited institution in Fall 2026.
    • A 300 word essay on one of the following topics.
    • QUESTION 1

      Imagine you had unlimited resources. What community service project would you create to support people who lack access to adequate clothing? Describe the project, who it would serve, and explain how it would create long-term, meaningful impact.

    • QUESTION 2

      Social media, artificial intelligence, and other digital technologies have changed how young people communicate and decide what information to trust. How have these changes affected youth? Describe a practical solution that would help youth trust online information and use digital technology more safely.  Explain how you would implement your idea.

    • QUESTION 3

      Identify three areas of the world (for example, social, environmental, economic, or educational issues) that you believe most need improvement. For each one, explain why it is important and outline important steps you would take to begin creating positive change.

    • You will be assessed on your ability to communicate your thoughts in a clear, concise, and coherent manner without the use of AI (Artificial Intelligence).  Your essay must be double spaced, in 12 pt font and include your name at the top of each page.
    • An electronic copy of your high school transcript.
    •  Minimum GPA 2.75.
    • Two letters of recommendation are required and must be submitted with your application.
    • Each letter of recommendation must include the following:
      • The full name and role/title of the school official/community service leader
      • The  phone number and email address of the school official/community service leader
      • Length of time the reference has known/worked with the applicant
      • A clear description of the relationship with the applicant
      • The school official/community service leader's assessment of the applicant's
        • Character
        • Unique Skills (e.g., leadership, creative talents, etc.)
        • Work Ethic
      • A clear description of the type of community service activities performed including
        • The applicant's specific role and impact (e.g., participant, leadership position, organizer etc.)

    All items must be submitted electronically no later than, Friday, April 3, 2026. Keep in mind, this includes the recomendation letters.

    All completed applications will be reviewed and scored by the Scholarship Committee of the Hannah J. Green Foundation, Inc.  The  top-scoring applicants will be granted an interview in late April 2026, to determine the scholarship recipients.  All scholarship recipients will be notified no later than May 11, 2026.
