    The Oceanside Transit Center Pedestrian tunnel is getting a new look and we need your input! Three artists have created designs to bring color and creativity to this space.

  • Option 1 - "Oceanside Odyssey"

  • About the Mural

    “Oceanside Odyssey” is an immersive mural experience showcasing Oceanside's native habitat, from the sunset skies to the ocean's depths. The various animals represent the variety of people in Oceanside: local and migrant. Local marine life, including ospreys, dolphins, and whales, adorn the tunnel walls, culminating in a grand display welcoming us to "OCEANSIDE CALIFORNIA."

    Artist

    “Oceanside Odyssey” invites you to experience the heritage & culture of Oceanside! It’s biodiversity mirrors our team’s diverse cultures of Asian, Black, Middle Eastern, Latin, White and LGBTQ:

    • Jon Hamrick, Head of Murals for PB Art District, has painted for celebrities & Wide Open Walls.
    • The prolific Hanna Daly, a Licensed Female Contractor, with 20 years experience, married her wife in Oceanside!
    • Maxx Moses a historical figure in the world of murals, has painted eight San Diego Transit Centers & gained global recognition for 40 years of inspiring communities from South Africa to South America.
    • Paul Jimenez & Signe Ditona skyrocketed to fame overnight after painting Tony Gwyn & Jr Seau. GroundFloor Murals have painted for MrBeast, FazeRug, Padres, Gulls & City of Chula Vista.
    • Mike Smallderakht has painted with Salvatore Torres & his work has been displayed in the California Center for the Arts, Escondido.

     

  • Option 2 - "O'side Story"

  • About the Mural

    "O’side Story" honors Oceanside’s local history through its ecological and cultural memory. A familiar sight, Rufous Hummingbirds and Red-crowned Amazon Parrots symbolize movement and connection as they flutter across multi-paneling in an expansive compositional journey. The mural features native plants like Torrey Pines, Salvia apiana, and Potentilla multijuga, alongside introduced species like red Bougainvillea, Jacaranda blossoms, and pepper trees. Set among local landmarks like the Oceanside Bandshell and the Charlesetta Reece Allen Post Office, carnations weave through the tunnel, echoing Oceanside’s agricultural past as the Garden of Carnations. These elements serve as a reflection on impermanence, resilience and traces of the past which continue to shape Oceanside, leaving a lasting impression embodying the collective spirit that makes Oceanside unique.

    Artists

    • Marisa DeLuca, is a remodernist artist and founder of Artists in Solidarity. Based in Oceanside, her work stems from Oceanside’s histories and landscapes, local narratives and examining the impact of displacement and erasure.
    • Thao Huynh French is a Vietnamese American artist based in San Diego, specializing in brutalist floral compositions with an element of story-telling highlighting cultural and local stories.
    • Reinhart Revilla Selvik’s multidisciplinary artistic practice explores intersections of memory and architecture, examining how one's environment shapes perception and understanding.

  • Option 3 - "Kindred Voyage"

  • About the Mural
    "Kindred Voyage" tells the story of diverse creatures navigating land, sea, and air, guided by an inner compass that sustains their ecosystem. This journey reflects human travel—for work, adventure, or returning home. Earth tones blend with oceanic hues, creating a natural flow. As viewers move through the mural, they encounter whales, fish, and dolphins before transitioning to land with birds, tortoises, and butterflies. A vibrant color band weaves throughout, symbolizing the unseen energy connecting all living beings.

    Kindred Voyage celebrates Oceanside’s coastal and terrestrial beauty, encouraging conservation and inspiring respect for nature. The mural reflects what makes Oceanside special, just like those who visit this vibrant coastal town.

    Artist

    • Artist Skye Walker will collaborate with Stein Painting Services and NWL Construction. The team will assist Skye in establishing base layers and color blocking, while Skye will add detailed animal and plant elements. Skye Walker and Stein Painting Services are based in Encinitas, while Parker Onufer of NWL Construction, a fourth-generation San Diegan, works out of Clairemont and frequently contributes to North County and Oceanside projects.
