Real Property: My Agent may buy, sell, lease, mortgage, manage, exchange, improve, maintain, repair, encumber, subdivide, develop, or otherwise handle any real estate or rights related to real estate that I own or have an interest in, whether now or in the future. This includes residential, commercial, agricultural, or undeveloped property, as well as mineral, water, or timber rights. My Agent may negotiate and enter into contracts; execute, acknowledge, and deliver deeds, mortgages, leases, assignments, or other instruments; pay or collect rents, taxes, insurance, or maintenance costs; obtain permits or zoning changes; hire professionals (e.g., realtors, attorneys, contractors); and take any other action required by state law to complete real estate transactions, including recording documents with appropriate governmental authorities.
Tangible Personal Property: My Agent may buy, sell, lease, exchange, accept as a gift, donate, manage, maintain, repair, store, insure, dispose of, or otherwise deal with any tangible personal property I own or have an interest in, such as household goods (e.g., furniture, appliances), vehicles (e.g., cars, boats, motorcycles), equipment (e.g., tools, machinery), jewelry, artwork, collectibles, or other physical assets. This includes negotiating and signing contracts; arranging transportation or delivery; registering or titling property (e.g., vehicle titles); paying related expenses (e.g., insurance, storage fees); and pursuing or defending claims related to such property (e.g., warranty disputes).
Stocks and Bonds: My Agent may buy, sell, exchange, redeem, pledge, transfer, manage, or otherwise handle stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or other securities I own or have an interest in, including those held in brokerage accounts, investment portfolios, or retirement plans. This includes opening or closing securities accounts; depositing or withdrawing funds; exercising voting rights or proxies; collecting dividends, interest, or proceeds; executing stock powers or bond transfers; reinvesting proceeds; consulting with financial advisors; and taking any action necessary to manage or protect these investments, such as responding to tender offers, mergers, or bankruptcies.
Commodities and Options: My Agent may buy, sell, trade, exercise, close out, or otherwise handle commodities, futures contracts, options, derivatives, or similar financial instruments I own or wish to acquire. This includes opening or managing trading accounts; depositing or withdrawing margin funds; executing contracts or orders through brokers or exchanges; monitoring market conditions; exercising or allowing options to expire; rolling over futures positions; and consulting with financial professionals to manage risks or execute strategies related to these investments.
Banks and Other Financial Institutions: My Agent may open, maintain, modify, or close accounts (e.g., checking, savings, certificates of deposit) at banks, credit unions, or other financial institutions in my name or on my behalf; deposit, withdraw, or transfer funds; write, endorse, deposit, or cash checks; obtain or use debit cards, credit cards, or online banking access; rent, access, or terminate safe deposit boxes (including inventorying contents); apply for loans or lines of credit; pay bills or loan obligations; purchase cashier’s checks or money orders; and perform any other banking or financial transactions necessary to manage my funds or assets.
Operation of Entity or Business: My Agent may manage, operate, sell, reorganize, merge, dissolve, or otherwise handle any business, corporation, partnership, limited liability company, or other entity in which I have an ownership interest or management role. This includes making business decisions; entering into contracts; hiring or firing employees; paying expenses (e.g., salaries, taxes, rent); managing assets or liabilities; filing required reports or registrations; borrowing funds or securing credit; representing me at meetings or votes; negotiating sales or transfers of business interests; and taking any action to preserve or enhance the value of the entity or business.
Insurance and Annuities: My Agent may buy, renew, modify, exchange, continue, surrender, lapse, or terminate insurance policies (e.g., life, health, auto, homeowner’s, disability) or annuities in my name or on my behalf. This includes paying premiums; filing or settling claims; collecting proceeds or refunds; changing beneficiaries or coverage terms (unless requiring specific authority under Section 3); negotiating with insurers; converting policies (e.g., term to whole life); borrowing against policy cash values; and consulting with insurance advisors to maintain or adjust coverage as needed.
Estates, Trusts, and Other Beneficial Interests: My Agent may act on my behalf with respect to any estate, trust, or other beneficial interest in which I am a beneficiary, trustee, executor, or have any legal or equitable right. This includes accepting, managing, disclaiming (if authorized under Section 3), or giving receipts for distributions, payments, or property; exercising discretionary powers I may have as a fiduciary (if authorized); requesting accountings; paying related expenses (e.g., legal fees, taxes); pursuing or defending my rights in probate or trust proceedings; and consulting with attorneys or accountants to manage these interests.
Claims and Litigation: My Agent may assert, prosecute, defend, settle, mediate, arbitrate, abandon, or otherwise handle any legal claims, disputes, or lawsuits in which I have an interest, whether as plaintiff, defendant, or third party. This includes hiring or discharging attorneys; filing or responding to legal documents; negotiating settlements; paying or collecting judgments, awards, or costs; appealing decisions; enforcing or satisfying court orders; signing releases or waivers; and taking any action necessary to protect my legal rights or interests in administrative, civil, or criminal matters.
Personal and Family Maintenance: My Agent may provide for my personal needs and those of my spouse, children, or other dependents consistent with my customary standard of living. This includes paying for housing (e.g., rent, mortgage, utilities), food, clothing, transportation, education, recreation, medical care (e.g., doctors, hospitals, medications), long-term care (e.g., nursing homes, home health aides), or other living expenses; hiring caregivers or service providers; arranging travel or relocation; maintaining my household; and ensuring my dependents’ support, education, or welfare as I would, subject to available resources.
Retirement Plans: My Agent may manage, invest, withdraw, roll over, transfer, or otherwise handle funds or assets in my retirement accounts (e.g., IRAs, 401(k)s, pensions), including those I own or have an interest in. This includes selecting or changing investment options; requesting distributions or loans; exercising survivor or beneficiary options (unless requiring specific authority under Section 3); designating or updating beneficiaries (if authorized); paying fees or taxes; complying with required minimum distribution rules; consulting with financial planners; and taking any action to preserve or access these benefits.
Taxes: My Agent may prepare, review, sign, and file federal, state, local, or foreign tax returns, forms, or related documents (e.g., W-2s, 1099s, estimated tax payments) on my behalf; pay, contest, or settle tax liabilities; claim or collect refunds; represent me before tax authorities (e.g., IRS audits, appeals); hire accountants or tax attorneys; access my tax records or transcripts; extend filing deadlines; make tax elections; and take any other action necessary to comply with tax laws or manage my tax obligations.
