The Boone and Crockett Club cordially invites you to our Outdoorswomen Skills Retreat. This program is designed to empower women with the skills and knowledge to feel confident and independent in outdoor recreation.

Our goal is to break down barriers that prevent women from feeling self-assured in outdoor pursuits and to foster a strong community of capable Boone and Crockett women in the backcountry. • Please notify the Program Manager, Madison Todd, if medical information changes prior to the retreat. We aim to make each attendee as comfortable as possible and provide reasonable accommodations. We advise attendees to bring a small first aid kit, including NSAIDs, bandages, and any prescription medications that will be needed during the retreat weekend. We have a first aid kit on site as well.

  • Firearm Safety Rules

Shooting sports and firearm safety is part of our Outdoorswomen Skills Retreat. Please read the following Firearm Safety Rules to ensure you understand and will comply with the rules during activities.
    1. Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
    2. Keep firearms pointed down range at all times and do not break the 180-degree line.
    3. Keep your finger off the trigger, unless firing.
    4. Keep firearms holstered, cased, or in a gun rack and unloaded until you reach the firing line.
    5. Be aware of your target and beyond before firing.
    6. Do not move down the range until all firearms are unloaded and checked by the Range Master and holstered, cased, or in the gun rack.
    7. Eye and ear protection must be worn while on the range.
    8. Load firearms only when given the command to do so.
    9. If you have a problem or see a safety hazard, call out loudly and raise your hand. Stay facing forward and keep your hand raised until Range Master comes to help you. The Range Master will call for a “Cease fire!” when a hand goes up.
    10. Do not anticipate a command.
    11. If in doubt, do not fire.
    12. No smoking, alcohol, horseplay, or talking on the firing line.
    13. The Range Master(s) will be in red or orange.
    14. The Range Master has the final say on all matters.
    15. Wash your hands before eating and/or drinking. This will help remove lead contamination.
    16. All firearms must be unloaded before entering the range.
    17. All firearms must be unloaded before leaving the range.
    18. Do not clean guns at the Rasmuson Wildlife Conservation Center. Guns will be cleaned by the range staff only under the supervision of the Range Master.
  • Retreat Rules, Expectations and Guidelines

The following information pertains to attendee conduct, equipment needed by participants, medical information, and release forms.
    1. If the participant leaves the retreat before its conclusion, they should notify RWCC staff.
    2. If participants walk around the property during free time, they should notify staff where they plan to hike and take a buddy. Take bear spray and be bear smart!
    3. Participants are to respect quiet hours and dorm guidelines.
    4. Participants are expected to be prompt at all workshop events.
    5. Due to its remoteness, our education center doesn't have much cell service. However, we do have Wi-Fi and a landline. We recommend turning on Wi-Fi calling if calls are needed while visiting. However, it is a retreat, so we challenge you to set your devices down and enjoy your short weekend away in the mountains!
    6. Use of tobacco inside our education center is prohibited. If you do smoke cigarettes outside, please ensure they are properly disposed of to prevent wildfire.
    7. Pets and other animals are not permitted at Outdoor Adventure Camps. Service animals are welcome to attend along with the participant. However, any animal that has not been trained to perform tasks related to an individual's disability, such as emotional support animals, must be left at home. For information on clarifying a service animal from an emotional support animal, visit: https://disabilityrightsmt.org/resources/service-animals/. If you will be attending the retreat with a service animal, please notify the Program Manager so we can make accommodations as needed.
    8. We strongly recommend notifying staff of emergency medications upon arrival (e.g., rescue inhalers, and epinephrine pens). Letting staff know where this medication is in your day bag prior to each day's activities can allow us to help you retrieve it in case of emergency.
    9. No personal firearms or other weapons are permitted on the property.
    10. Personal equipment brought to the education center is not required, and the Boone and Crockett Club is not responsible for damages or loss of said personal items (e.g., personal bear spray, fly fishing rods, etc.). We will provide you with any equipment you need for workshops!
    11. Our education center programs will provide firearms for shooting sports activities; please do not bring your own on property.
    12. Most importantly, participants are asked to respect other participants, staff, and the property of others. Participants will conduct themselves in a safe, intelligent, and responsible manner.

    11. The Undersigned expressly agrees that this “Release and Waiver of Liability and Indemnification Agreement” is attended to be as broad and inclusive as is permitted by Montana law and, if any portion of this Agreement is held invalid, it is further agreed that the remaining portions shall continue in full force and effect.
