FAQ
GENERAL QUESTIONS
❓ Can I bring another cosplayer as my companion?
Of course you can! AnimeKon provides each invited guest with two event tickets—one for you and one for a companion of your choice. Your plus one will receive full event access, guest perks, and shared transportation with you. If you choose to bring a plus one, they can share your hotel room. They are also welcome to share your table.
❓ Can my plus one be from a different location?
Your plus one must be traveling from the same location as you to qualify for the covered flight and shared hotel room. AnimeKon will only book flights from a single departure point, so we cannot cover tickets for a plus one traveling from a different city or country.
❓ Can my plus one receive a per diem?
Your plus one cosplayer will receive half the per diem amount provided to official guests. While they will have access to event perks, shared accommodation, and transportation, only official AnimeKon guests receive the full per diem.
❓ What does AnimeKon cover for invited guests?
AnimeKon Expo provides:✔ Airfare & Accommodation (covered by AnimeKon)✔ A Per Diem (provided upon arrival in Barbados)✔ Guest Experience Perks (including social events & networking opportunities)✔ Full details sent via email upon selection.
❓ If I’m not selected this year, can I reapply?
No need to reapply! If you submit an application, it stays on file for 5 years, meaning you may be invited in a future year.
❓ Am I required to judge the cosplay contest?
Yes, invited cosplay guests are required to either judge or host the cosplay competition.
❓ Can I sell my own prints or merchandise?
Yes! If you have a booth or signing table, you are welcome to sell prints and merchandise. Let us know in advance if you plan to sell items
❓ Can I host a panel or workshop?
Yes! We love when guests engage with attendees beyond cosplay. Whether it’s a Q&A, tutorial, or fandom discussion, let us know what you’d like to do!
❓ I love gaming! Can I be involved in esports events?
Yes! Whether you want to compete/host in a tournament, host a casual gaming session, or just join in on the fun, we’ll find a way for you to be involved.
❓ What airport do I fly into?
All international flights arrive at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) in Barbados.
❓ Will someone pick me up from the airport?
Yes, AnimeKon arranges transportation to and from the airport for invited guests. Details will be provided closer to the event.
❓ What should I pack for AnimeKon?
In addition to your cosplay, bring: Light, breathable clothing (Barbados is warm!). Sunscreen & sunglasses (for outdoor events). A swimsuit (for social events like our Kon Voyage Catamaran Cruise). Comfortable shoes (you’ll be walking a lot). Power adapters (Barbados uses 110V plugs like the U.S.)
❓ Can I extend my stay in Barbados?
Yes! If you’d like to extend your trip beyond AnimeKon, you are welcome to do so at your own expense. Let us know in advance, and we can provide recommendations for accommodations and things to do around the island.
❓ What’s the best way to get around Barbados during the convention?
Taxis, rideshares, and local transport are available, but we also arrange group travel for scheduled events to make things easier for guests.
