The Cornerstone Co-op is offering a $500 (five hunderd dollar) scholarship to any first year student that will be attending University nuhelot’įne thaiyots’į nistameyimâkanak Blue Quills & resides in our trading area.
The scholarship recipient is chosen by the Community Engagement Committee based on the following criteria:
- Academic Final Marks: 30%
- Community Involvement: 70%
- Eligibility:
- Students who are
- Status Indian*
- Non-Status Indian
- Inuit or Métis
- Tie Breaking Criteria:
- Post-secondary education related to Business, or Cornerstone’s Retail commodities
- Support of Cornerstone Co-op (student has and uses their own Co-op ownership number)
- Current or prior employment with Cornerstone Co-op
To qualify for consideration by the committee, interested students must submit the following:
- Official high school transcripts of final marks are required. A detailed academic report may also be accepted, if applicable. Failure to provide this documentation will result in cancellation of your application
- Reference letter from Principal or Guidance Counsellor for your school.
- Reference letter from Organization regarding Number of Volunteer Hours.
- Official confirmation of enrolment at University Blue Quills
- A short, typed essay (maximum two pages) describing
- Personal Background
- Work Experience
- Community Volunteer Activities
- Impact on the Community
- Future Aspirations
