No experience is required for general support, but experience is beneficial for tech volunteers. We have a limited number of technician shadowing opportunities.

When are you available to support us at the fringe?
In general, we ask that volunteers are able to commit to a minimum of two days/shifts. Please select ALL dates and times that you're able to support us. We will make shifts as enjoyable as possible, with breaks for you to see shows. If you select all the time availability within a date, we won't put you on shift for that long but will take it that you're flexible on that day.

Please try to keep these dates in your diary and we'll confirm allocations as soon as possible, aiming to give you at least one month notice ahead of the Fringe.

We've kept the times of day general for now, but please consider them roughtly as follows:
- Morning - 8am - 12pm
- Afternoon - 12pm - 4pm
- Evening - 4pm - 8pm
- Late - 8pm - 12am
Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd July are our "Get in" days when we prepare each venue, for example on Palace Green we have to erect the marquees, staging, tech etc. These are more practical/physical days which may involve sorting and carrying things - steel toe cap boots can be helpful! Monday 28th July is our "Get out" day - often shorter but there is a lot to sort and clean up.

All volunteers are expected to attend a short induction session in Durham City Centre. This is our opportunity to tell you everything you need to know about this year's plans and for you to ask us any questions you might have.

If you've volunteered with us in previous years, you may not need to attend the induction but you are very welcome to come along.
