Cell Phone/ Electronic Devices: The personal use of cell phones or electronic devices by Care Professionals while on duty is prohibited. Care Pros are expected to inform the office if they are expecting an important call. The use of GPS is allowed on a hands-free device.
Uniform: Care Pros are expected to wear Home Instead issued uniform top, badge, and comfortable closed-toed shoes for all shifts. Caregivers are to wear black or khaki pants; CNAs may wear solid dark-colored scrub bottoms. It is unacceptable to wear jeans, leggings, sweatpants, shorts, crop tops, apparel with logos, etc. at any time. Care Plan uniform adjustment may be made on a case-by-case basis and only when previously discussed with the office.
Time and Attendance: Despite our best efforts, Home Instead cannot guarantee hours, shifts, clients, etc. Care Pros are expected to work a minimum of 12 hours per week and shift lengths vary from 4-12 hours. Care Pros are expected to maintain contact with the office regarding assignments. Care Pros may be restaffed at any time without notice or explanation.
Shift may be assigned 3 days in advance in accordance with availability and driving radius. It is the responsibility of the Care Pros to submit Requests for Time Off in a timely manner. Care Pros are not required to work with 24/7 clients. However, if a Care Pro accepts a shift for a 24/7 client and leaves before their replacement arrives it is grounds for immediate termination.
Care Pros are expected to punch in and out on time for all scheduled shifts using the Wellsky app whenever possible. If unable to report for a scheduled shift, Care Pros must speak to a member of Staffing live between 6AM-10PM in advance of their scheduled start time. At no time will a text, email, or voice message be accepted. Care Pros are expected to read and fully understand the company’s attendance policy. Including how to request time off, submit medical documentation, change availability, request a leave of absence, etc. No-Call/No-Show or Abandonment of a Client are grounds for immediate termination.
HIPAA: Care Pros are expected to always maintain client confidentiality under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) and protect client information, including personal health information. I also understand that continuing contact with any client once services have ended is strictly forbidden. Care Pros are required to notify the office of any client medical changes to maintain care plan accuracy and effective treatment.
Care Pros never exchange personal contact information with clients or their family members.
Transportation: Care Pros are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from shifts. They are expected to call the office immediately if they are experiencing car trouble. Care Pros cannot be dropped off at a client’s home as this would be a HIPAA violation. It is an expectation of the role to provide transportation for clients in their vehicle if possible, however mileage reimbursement is available for Care Pros providing transportation in their own vehicle.
Emergency Situations: Care Pros are expected to put the health and well-being of their clients first. The office team should be notified immediately of any medical emergencies. Only office personnel should notify the family. Care Pros should NEVER contact the family.
Home Instead is a non-medical home health agency. Under no circumstances is an employee allowed to perform a medical procedure, make changes to a client’s medication, or use equipment that has not been preapproved and clearly stated in the client’s care plan. It is the responsibility of each care professional to read and understand all company policies which can be found on ricaregiver.com or printed form by request if one has not previously been provided.
I have read and understand all the policies and procedures of MML Care Inc. dba Home Instead. I understand that I am responsible for always adhering to these policies and failure to do so can result in disciplinary action including termination.
