  • "Eel Processing"

During our time together youth participants will have the opportunity to learn about the role and significance of eels, Akraah, in Karuk culture. Much of our time with the youth will be spent teaching youth how to process Akraah, including cleaning, flattening, and smoking to prepare for canning or fully dried eels. During this processing time, it will be common for youth to handle knives and other similar tools with adult supervision. By signing this, you, the parent/guardian, recognize and understand fully and release all liabilities associated with these activities and hold harmless the Karuk Tribe, Northern California Indian Development Council, and any agents thereof.
