  • About This Role

    The role of the President-Elect is primarily to

    • learn by participating in Regional Council Executive meetings for one year and,
    • prepare for a two-year term as President of the Region

    The regional council President is a 4-year term, first as President-Elect (1 year), then as sitting President (2 years), then as Past-President (1 year).

    The President chairs the Executive Council, oversees and chairs the General Meetings of the regional council, and represents the regional council at significant events and functions. The President acts as Servant-Leader providing spiritual and pastoral leadership, ensuring the integrity of the Regional Council Executive’s processes, and representing the Region to other partners and outside parties.)

    The President also serves as chair of the Regional Council Executive meetings and the Regional Council Meetings during their term. The President makes decisions that fall within the topics covered by the RCE policies on Governance Process and Regional Council Executive-Staff Relationships; the President does not supervise or direct the Executive Minister or vice versa.)

    Throughout the Regional Council, the working groups and councils rely on the wisdom of diverse peoples who make up our communities of faith. Some feel they are answering a spiritual call when they apply for volunteer roles for the Regional Council; others have been nominated by friends and colleagues who recognize that their abilities are just what the church needs.
