INTERNSHIP PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Splash Fit Swim Club offers an internship designed to provide eligible participants with experience in an aquatic environment. This initiative provides participants with professional trainings in various positions through educational and skill learning from both a facilities and programming standpoint.
Participants receive guidance to resources and help in developing the skills necessary for future opportunities in the aquatics field. Whether you're preparing for a lifeguard or progressive swim instructor course, learning administrative skills, or anything aquatics related, we're here to assist you.
These opportunities provide valuable exposure to various career fields, facilitate skill development, expand professional networks, and help identify individual strengths.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Candidates are expected to train up to 8 hours per week during a 12-week internship period. You must have been offered the internship before you can apply.
INTERNSHIP POSITIONS:
Instructor
Interest in learning skills necessary to obtain a Water Safety Instructor Certification
Candidate is expected to learn from the coaching and instructor staff in facilitating the Splash Fit Swim Club curriculum with participants during organized group/private swim lessons and competitive swim practices, assess the progressive system to which the curriculum applies to using an evaluation and skills assessment system.
Coach
Interest in learning skills necessary to obtain a Water Safety Instructor Certification and/or USA Swimming Coach’s Badge
Candidate is expected to learn from the coaching and instructor staff in facilitating the Splash Fit Swim Club curriculum with participants during organized group/private swim lessons and competitive swim practices, assess the progressive system to which the curriculum applies to using an evaluation and skills assessment system.
Lifeguard
Interest in learning skills necessary to obtain a Lifeguarding Certification
Candidate is expected to learn from the lifeguarding staff the skills necessary to prevent drowning and injuries. Candidates will learn to solve on-the-job challenges by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision- making skills. Lifeguards must be able to enforce pool policies and be able to communicate effectively why policies are in place.
Deck Manager
Interest in learning skills necessary to obtain a position in class management while also learning how to utilize the following platforms: iClassPro, Numbers, Notes, Sheets.
Candidate is expected to learn from the deck management staff the skills necessary to arrange classes and practices. Candidates will learn to solve on-the-job challenges by updating class/practice schedules and making changes when necessary due to coaching substitutions. Candidate will have to meet and greet students as well as engage in casual conversations with parents and participants.
Administration/Management
Interest in learning skills necessary to obtain a position in administration and clerical support duties, including managing the front office reception while also learning how to utilize the following platforms: iClassPro, Numbers, Notes, Sheets
Candidate is expected to learn from the administrative team the skills necessary to arrange class schedules, create data spreadsheets, attendance check-ins, communications from participants and/or their guardians and provide service from the front desk reception.

Pool Maintenance
Interest in learning the skills necessary to obtain a position in maintenance and/or cleaning services.
Candidate is expected to learn from maintenance staff how to maintain facilities of pool, deck, locker rooms, bathrooms, and lobby by sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping floors; taking out the trash, cleaning doors, furniture, and windows; reducing puddles on deck and disinfecting and wiping down the facility.
