  • Qualifications:

    • A candidate must be planning to graduate or have graduated from ISD #2190.
    • A candidate must be between the ages of 17 and 20 by June 1 of the year in which she is participating.
    • A candidate may never have been married, had a marriage annulled, be pregnant or have any children.
    • A candidate may not have previously held the title of Miss Western Fest or Western Fest Princess.
  • I agree to abide by the Miss Western Fest Code of Conduct Contract with the Royalty Committee and the Western Fest celebration committee during my participation as a Royalty Candidate.  If the Royalty Committee finds me in violation of this agreement, I will withdraw from my candidacy immediately or be removed by the Royalty Committee.  If I withdraw of am removed, I will return any program attire to the Royalty Committee within 48 hours of withdrawal or removal.  At the end of my candidacy, which is defined as being from the date this contract is signed through the Miss Western Fest pageant, I will return the appropriate program resources to the Royalty Committee.

    • I understand that I am under the direction of the Royalty Committee and that all scheduled events and participation for these events will be coordinated by a member of the Royalty Committee.  An absence from scheduled event must be authorized in advance by the Chairperson of the Royalty Committee. 
    • I understand that I will not attend any functions as a representative of Western Fest that has not been authorized by the Royalty Committee.  I also understand that I will not wear my Western Fest Candidate attire to any function that has not been authorized by the Royalty Committee.
    • I understand that I am required to act with discretion and decorum at all times.  Any act which the Royalty Committee believes violates proper conduct may result in the termination of my candidacy.
    • I understand that smoking is not permitted while representing Western Fest at public functions.
    • I understand that co-habitation is not permitted at any time during my candidacy.  Co-habitation is defined as having the same residence as a partner/fiancé.  I also understand that if I get married or become pregnant I will withdraw immediately.  I understand that the Royalty Committee will remove me if a withdrawal is not initiated by me immediately.
    • I understand that consumption/possession of alcoholic beverages and/or any other illegal substances are not permitted at any time during my candidacy.  If charged and convicted with a violation by law enforcement, I will be withdrawn immediately by the Royalty Committee.  I also understand that if a Royalty Committee member witnesses me in possession of an illegal substance I will be removed immediately.
    • I understand that photographs implying consumption of alcohol or illegal substances during my time as a candidate will result in a review by the Royalty Committee.  My continuation in the program is at the discretion of the committee.
    • I understand and agree that if I am chosen as Miss Western Fest, I will attend the Minneapolis Aquatennial as a Queen of the Lakes candidate in July following the end of my reign. 
    • I understand that during my candidacy I will be responsible for all money that I collect as a part of my fundraising efforts.  In the event I withdraw my candidacy or am removed by the Royalty Committee, I have 48 hours from the date of withdrawal or removal in which to return all money collected and merchandise given to me. 
    • Upon signing this agreement, I agree to abide and fulfill the stated responsibilities during my Miss Western Fest candidacy.

    The following information helps us prepare for your time as a candidate.
  • Little Sister Guidelines
    Your little sister brings cuteness overload to our whole group. If you are selected as Miss Western Fest, your little sister becomes the Jr Ambassador. Guidelines include:
    • Entering 3rd-6th Grade in YME school district.
    • Not afraid to speak in public.
    • Dates to be available:
      • June info meeting
      • Western Fest Monday - Little Sister Event (evening)
      • Western Fest Wednesday - Kick-off Events and Kiddie Parade (evening)
      • Western Fest Friday - Dress Rehearsal and Family Picnic
      • Western Fest Saturday - Brunch, Parade, Pageant

  • Special Mom Guidelines

    This person is your supporter, helper and logistics helper during the week of Western Fest. Special Mom expectations include:

    • Available for dress rehearsal on Friday afternoon.
    • Available to help with transportation for you and your Little Sister between events on the Saturday of Western Fest. 
    • Helps you backstage during the pageant (clothing changes, hair, makeup, etc.)
    • Supports your fundraising.
    • Has supplies ready to go during the week (organized and dependable)
    • Helps gather your belongings after the pageant. If you are selected as an ambassador, your Special Mom helps coordinate where your things are going.

  • Candidate Attire:

    As a candidate, we provide the top and tshirt that you will wear for events. Please provide your size information for shirts (both numeric size and generic tshirt size). You will pair this with a denim crop pant and basic white shoes.

    Additionally, we are requesting the size of formal you tend to start with to give us an idea for dress sizes in preparation for our new ambassador gowns.
