Aurora Young Artist Competition: Woodwind

Open to all students currently enrolled in private lessons in the state of Ohio under the age of 18.

Competition Information:

Please note that Aurora School of Music does provide piano accompaniment ONLY by scheduling and reserving your one rehearsal via our front desk. You are welcome to bring your own accompanist as well. Aurora School of Music does provide accompanists that may be requested through our office at (330) 915-4912 by April 4, 2026 which service is included in your registration fee.

You must provide a piano accompaniment part latest at your rehearsal time.

The day of the competition, warm-up rooms will be assigned to you 30 minutes prior to your scheduled competition time

Repertoire and AYAC performance requirements:
- Divisions I-III - One solo performance piece
- Divisions IV-V - One solo performance piece and one etude
Please note that AYAC has changed its division requirements. It is no longer based on age, it is based on categorization of repertoire. Aurora School of Music is solely responsible for placing contestants into the appropriate division based on ASM's woodwind curriculum. Division categorizations are final and non-negotiable.

Prizes:
- Division I - 1st prize $100, 2nd prize $75, 3rd prize $65
- Division II - 1st prize $120, 2nd prize $100, 3rd prize $80
- Division III - 1st prize $250, 2nd prize $150, 3rd prize $100
- Division IV - 1st prize $350, 2nd prize $250, 3rd prize $150
- Divison V - 1st prize $500, 2nd prize $325, 3rd prize $225

Repertoire and AYAC Protocols

Please indicate the piece(s) you will be performing below. One solo performance piece (Div. I-III) and one etude (Div. IV-VI) are required to participate at AYAC Woodwind Competition. Please note: you cannot change your repertoire after you submit your application. The judges may stop you due to time limits according to each division. In order to participate in the competition you MUST bring your original solo music for the judges. *Please indicate all movement(s) that will be performed with complete measure numbers!*
