We’ll start with a brief introduction to clay handling and the pinch pot technique, focusing on forming, compressing, and shaping your vessel for both strength and aesthetics. You’ll then learn how to thoughtfully incorporate texture and design into your piece, considering placement, depth, and how the design will interact with glaze and allow for visibility of your sea glass.
Participants will:
• Create one pinch pot.
• Learn proper clay compression to prevent cracking
• Explore simple surface design and finishing techniques
No prior experience is necessary—this workshop is ideal for complete beginners as well as those looking to loosen up their practice and reconnect with hand-building fundamentals.
Clay, glaze, firing included.
You can bring your own sea glass, or purchase on site for a small fee.
You will return in two weeks and in the interim your piece will have been bisque fired and coated with a clear glaze. You can then place your selected sea glass in your pot and then the piece will be kiln-fired, ready for pickup in approximately 2–3 weeks.
Come get your hands dirty and leave with something uniquely yours—each piece creating a space for a little mother nature and the sea shore inside your home.
