THESIS RESEARCH: Understanding public opinion of the arts in the United States
The results of this anonymous survey will be compiled and analyzed for research purposes as part of a thesis about contemporary art and the arts industry in the United States as it relates to the environment, technology, and social issues. For these purposes, contemporary art is defined as the art made by living artists and the arts industry is defined as for-profit and nonprofit organizations that sell or exhibit artwork. This thesis is for an arts management masters program at Western Colorado University. Participation in this survey is voluntary and there are no risks associated with participation in this study. Participants are asked to include their demographic information for the researcher to understand the involvement and interest of the public in contemporary art and the arts industry. The criteria of survey participants includes being 18 years of age or older, living or have lived in the United States, and English language comprehension.
