We are proud to announce the new Meath Chronicle Community and Sports Awards 2025 in partnership with Specsavers and Bective Stud. We would like to thank all our sponsors for their support in this new initiative. These awards are designed to acknowledge the excellent work done by individuals and groups in our community and also to highlight the excellent work done in all the sporting arenas across our great county. You can enter or nominate those you think are deserving of an award or if you are part of a group of people you feel have contributed to your community.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR Sponsored by Specsavers. So many of our groups and clubs would not be able to function without the generous work of our volunteers. Do you know of someone who is deserving of this award? Or perhaps you know of more than one person? If you do, then would you please nominate them today.
GREEN PROJECT OF THE YEAR sponsored by Meath Chronicle. Our newspaper devotes many column inches to the importance of the changes we need to make our planet safe for future generations. Do you know a project that deserves to be awarded for this category of work? Perhaps you yourself are involved in such an endeavour.Then please enter or make your nomination in order to acknowledge this vital work.
COMMUNITY GROUP OF THE YEAR sponsored by Parc Rí. This award can be given to two or more people who join forces to make a difference in their locality and its residents. Now you, all of you, have an opportunity to make a difference to those people that enhance your lives. Nominate them now for this award and give them an accolade which they so richly deserve.
BEST SCHOOL PROJECT sponsored by Meta. This category is open to all schools in Meath and if you have a project that you are proud of in your classroom that was completed in the past two years, we would love you to enter. The winner will be presented with their award and will be profiled in the Meath Chronicle and a framed copy of the profile will be delivered to your school. All those shortlisted, will also receive an award. Perhaps your project is about food or climate change, it may be based in science, or it may be an art of literary project - whatever the topic we want to hear from you. YOUNG SPORTS STAR OF THE YEAR - sponsored by Meath Local Sports Partnership. The dedication and commitment of young sports people in our county is truly extraordinary and this award celebrates the great talent we have in our community of which we can be very proud. These young people are an inspiration to us all and if you are aware of such a sports person, this is your opportunity to nominate them for this award and give them the recognition they truly deserve.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT OF THE YEAR sponsored by Aura Leisure Navan & Trim. Sometimes people who don’t win that gold medal or enjoy success put in immense effort and achieve great things in their quest for glory. This award is aimed at such sports people, as they too can be great ambassadors for their sport. If you have someone who fits into this category, please nominate them for the award.
HALL OF FAME sponsored by Celtic Media Group. There are many great people across County Meath who have made an outstanding contribution to the community and have been leaders in encouraging people to get involved in sport. Age does not matter for this category and if you know someone who may quality, perhaps a volunteer who has made a big impact for many years, don’t hesitate to nominate them.
TEAM OF THE YEAR sponsored by Meath County Council. This category is open to all clubs in the county and if you think your team has achieved something remarkable you can tell us why they are deserving of such an award. It is open to all sports, including Gaelic Football and Hurling, Camogie, Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, Angling, Golf or Darts, or indeed any other discipline you consider worthy of an award. These teams represent their club, school and community with distinction and deserve our recognition. Send in your nomination now.
OVERALL SPORTSPERSON OF THE YEAR sponsored by Bective Stud. This award will be chosen by the Meath Chronicle editorial team so requires no nominations.
