    These are all the training registration links for the next 5 months. The course names, description, time, location but most importantly, REGISTRATIONS are available below.
  • Virtual PAPR Training

    This will be held September 10th at 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and September 17th from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. by ILC Dover. 

     

    This virtual session will consist of how to put on a PAPR, what the parts of the PAPR are, how to use a PAPR and the types of PAPRs there are. 

    Sentinel XL S-3000 PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) System: it is a high performance powered system specifically designed to provide healthcare professionals with superior respiratory protection against a range of infectious diseases. They are lightweight so they can be used for extended periods of
    time. It has a belt-mounted blower that pushes air through a filter to provide safe breathable air to the person wearing it. The head cover offers 2.5x protection compared to a N-95 and does not require fit testing. There are two different power options: a rechargeable battery or standard D Batteries can be used. All Sentinel products are NIOSH approved.

    While you may know how to use a PAPR, this is a great training to ask about rules, regulations and maintence to make sure that you are staying compliant with the surveyors.

  • VDH: ICS 300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents

     
    This class will be held on September 22-24 from 8 a.m.- 5: p.m. at VDH Peninsula Health District 836 J Clyde Morris Blvd Newport News, VA 23601. (Registration deadline 09/18/25)

    The Virginia Department of Health (with sponsorship from Virginia Department of Emergency Management) will be hosting the following FREE training opportunity for VDH staff and partners on emergency preparedness.

     

    What will you learn?

    Intermediate Incident Command System (ICS) is intended for those who could fill supervisory level positions during an incident. This three-day course will permit the student to develop an ICS organizational structure, list staffing requirements, prepare a briefing, lead or participate in a planning meeting, identify resources, develop goals, prepare an action plan and become familiar with the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

  • MGT 348: Medical Preparedness and Response to Bombing Incidents

     
    This class will be held on September 23rd and 24th from 8 a.m.- 5: p.m. at VDEM Headquarters 9711 Farrer Ct. Richmond, VA 23236. 

    This course is designed for personnel from any professional background who may become part of a community response to a bombing event. This interactive, instructor-facilitated program employs case studies and research-based information designed to enhance medical preparedness for and response to blast effects. Breakout sessions address considerations and concerns specific both to medical responders and emergency planners.

  • Hospital Family Support Center Workshop

     
    This workshop is scheduled for September 24th  from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. At CHKD Oakbrooke Health Center.  500 Discovery Dr, Chesapeake, VA 23320.

     

    This workshop will be discussing the Family Reunification, Family Assistance Centers and the hospital's part with the Hospital Family Support Center. It will be taught by the Virginia Crisis Awareness Response Team (VCART).  They will be delving into family assistance centers and will talk to hospitals about the family support centers and what the differences are.

  • Virtual VHASS Training

    These will be held virtually every Wednesday in October (1, 8, 15, 22, 29) at 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

     

    This will be for anyone and everyone to learn VHASS and how to create events, call in problems, handle patient tracking, etc.  We will be practicing with a test event, please make sure that you have your password, username, phone number and email updated in VHASS before coming to the training.

  • MGT 343: Disaster Management for Water and Wastewater Utilities

    This training is scheduled for October 7th and 8th from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. It will be hosted at City of Virginia Beach PU Dept, 3500 Dam Neck Road
    Virginia Beach, VA 23453.

     

    The Disaster Management for Water and Wastewater Utilities course is designed to provide training to water and wastewater professionals on issues concerning preparing for, responding to, and recovering from natural or human-caused disasters that threaten water and wastewater facilities and systems.

  • Virtual HVA Workshop

    This will be held October 8th at 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on TEAMS. Once you register, we will send out the link. 

    The MVP Coordinator and the Training and Exercise Coordinator will be providing you with a basic understanding of what the HVA is and how it applies to each of your facilities. We are here for you to ask questions and review an example HVA with you.

  • PER 320: Personal Protective Measures for Biological Events

    This will be held October 16th at 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Public Works Annex, 511 Oyster Point Rd. Newport News, VA 23602. 

     

    Personal Protective Measures for Biological Events is a one-day course focusing on the challenges faced by first responders and clinical health care professionals in prehospital and hospital environments as they deal with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needs and potential contamination issues while dealing with highly infectious diseases.

    The course provides participants with an overview of PPE and includes experiential learning activities on donning and doffing Level C PPE and technical decontamination. Additionally, participants review the different types of decontamination.

  • HERT Training

    This training is scheduled for October 28-30 from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. It will be hosted at a Riverside Regional: 500 J Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601. This will be held in Annex Conference Room D. Please park in the parking garages. 

     

    The Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents (HERT) course addresses health care response at the operations level for the facility and its personnel. This three-day course prepares health care responders to utilize the Hospital Incident Command System — integrating into the community emergency response network while operating an Emergency Treatment Area as hospital first responders during a mass casualty incident involving patient contamination.

  • Regional Burn Training

    This will be held for all RN's and EVHC Team Members on June, July, & August. TEMS will be hosting this class for all EMS on September, October, November. All of these classes will be held VIRTUALLY. Once you register, the link will be sent to you.

    *This is specifically for EMS because they will have a cap of 30 per class. 

     

    Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Trauma/Burn Services and Macon and Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences Old Dominion University Eastern Virginia Medical School and Medical Group-Emergency Trauma and Burn Surgeons are collaborating with the Eastern Virginia Healthcare Coalition to offer virtual Burn Training to the region. This training will cover initial burn care, dressings, topical, fluid resuscitation, primary survey and transfer. This is in complement and review of Burn boxes available at each hospital in the Eastern Region.

  • AWR 232: Mass Fatalities Planning & Response for Rural Communities 

    This class will be held on December 3rd and 4th  8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.  at Peninsula EMS 6876 Main Street Gloucester, VA. 

    This is designed to prepare rural first responders and officials with the basic knowledge, skills and abilities to manage a mass fatality incident impacting their jurisdiction. Target audience includes first responders, coroners/medical examiners, public health officials, and others with responsibilities during a mass fatality incident. Issues addressed include establishing roles and responsibilities, assets management, remains processing and identification, diversity issues and development of a mass fatality plan that affect the construct of a mass fatality response.

  • VDH: HSEEP- L0146 Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program

    What will you learn?

    The K/L0146 HSEEP is a basic-level course that provides a comprehensive overview of exercise design along with practical skill development in accordance with the HSEEP Doctrine. The course uses activities that will give participants an opportunity to interact with many of the templates and other materials that are provided by the National Exercise Division to ensure exercises are conducted in a consistent manner. Upon completion of this course, participants will gain a better understanding of what constitutes a HSEEP consistent exercise.

    **Participants are required to have completed IS-0120.a – An Introduction to Exercises. It is also recommended that participants take IS-0130 - Exercise Evaluation and Improvement Planning**

  • VDEM: L0102 Fundamentals of Threats and Hazards
    (formerly Science of Disasters)

     

    This class will be held on December 16-18 from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. at Portsmouth Police Training Center (Portsmouth Welcome Center)
    206 High Street, Portsmouth, VA 23704.

     

    This course is part of the National Emergency Management Basic Academy and
    will count towards the completion of this program. This course provides participants with an overview of scientific principles and concepts that come into play in the management of a wide range of disasters. Emergency management professionals should have a baseline understanding of biological, chemical, and weather-related event. Students will learn the science behind events and disasters that shape our increasingly dangerous world

  • AWR 136: Developing Cybersecurity Resiliency for Everyone

     

    This class will be held on January 7, 2026 from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.  at Mary Immaculate Hospital. MIH Comm. Education & Health 2 Bernardine Dr. Newport News Virginia 23602. 

     

    This training is a non-technical introduction to cybersecurity designed to empower individuals and organizations with the awareness and practical skills needed to combat today’s cyber threats. Whether at work or at home, participants will learn how everyday actions can strengthen cybersecurity and prevent disruptions to business, government, and emergency response operations.

  • AWR 376: Understanding Targeted Cyber Attacks

    This class will be held on January 8, 2026 from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. at Mary Immaculate Hospital at MIH Comm. Education & Health 2 Bernardine Dr. Newport News Virginia 23602. 

     

    This course provides participants with specific information regarding targeted cyber attacks, including advanced persistent threats. This information will place them in a better position to plan and prepare for, respond to, and recover from targeted cyber attacks. This course will fill the gap in threat-specific training for cybersecurity as a community-driven course that focuses on the phases of targeted cyber attacks and the attacker methods used during each phase. Participants will also receive valuable information on cyber attack prevention, mitigation and response.

  • MGT 384: Preparing for Cyber Attacks & Incidents

     

    This class will be on January 28 - 29, 2026 from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. This class will be at Sentara Leigh's Sentara Brock Cancer Center. 6251 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk Virginia 23502. 

     

    This class is designed to prepare organizations and communities for the next cyber attack or incident. Participants will analyze cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and initial and cascading impacts of cyber attacks and incidents, evaluate the process for developing a cyber preparedness program, examine the importance and challenges of cyber related information sharing and discover low to no cost resources to help build cyber resilience. This course utilizes a team approach to capitalize on the synergy of traditional emergency response organizations, SLTT governments, military, and public and private operators of critical infrastructure.

  • MGT 452: Physical and Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure

    The national and economic security of the United States depends on the reliable functioning of critical infrastructure. This course encourages collaboration efforts among individuals and organizations responsible for both physical and cybersecurity toward development of integrated risk management strategies that lead to enhanced capabilities necessary for the protection of our Nation’s critical infrastructure.

    Participants will identify physical and cybersecurity concerns impacting overall infrastructure security posture, examine integrated physical and cybersecurity incidents and the evolving risks and impacts they pose to critical infrastructure, and explore resources that can be applied to improve security within an organization, business, or government entity.

  • MGT 315: CONDUCTING RISK
    ASSESSMENTS FOR CRITICAL
    COMMUNITY ASSETS

     

    This class will be held on March 24th and 25th from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. at Sentara BelleHarbour 3920 Bridge Road Suffolk, VA 23435. 

     

    The purpose of this course is to help prevent, reduce, or mitigate the potential consequences of a domestic terrorist attack, natural catastrophe, or other emergency using all-hazards scenarios to identify critical community asset risks and their potential impacts to a community. The information gained through the application of these training concepts may be used to develop appropriate action plans to reduce consequences and manage risks. This course provides training to assist emergency responders and other local stakeholders (operating as a multidisciplinary team) in analyzing existing security
    measures and formulating a strategy for mitigation.
