OCEAN CORE Academy 2025 Recommendation Form

Dear Recommender: The OCEAN CORE Academy program is designed to provide an exciting and eye-opening introductory geoscience and oceanography experience to undergraduates – with the aim of exposing them to new areas of inquiry, skills and career paths with which they may not be familiar. The program will provide them with a dynamic and varied experience at the Gulf Coast Repository for scientific ocean drilling cores, during which they will take part in a variety of science, technology and engineering activities, including laboratory research projects, geology field trips, science communication training and career explorations. Students will live near and work at the repository for 8 full days and are expected to fully engage with scientists, fellow students, and educators.
