Prairie Valley Gundogs will only sell puppies to homes of experienced hunters. Please tell us about your prior hunting experience that involved dogs.

Are you on any other breeder's puppy list?
We sell all of our puppies with Limited Registrations in AKC and NAVHDA, which means they are not to be bred, and their offspring cannot be registered with either registry unless we lift the Limited Registration. We will lift breeding restrictions upon request, free of charge, for any dog that meets both our criteria of having attained a testing title and the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of America’s breeding criteria. Are you agreeable to buying a puppy with limited registration rights in both AKC and NAVHDA?

What breeds of dogs have you owned in the past?
Have you ever owned a dog that exhibited aggressive behaviors? If yes, please give details and how you dealt with the aggression.
Have you ever bred a dog that you owned? If yes, how many litters were produced and were those litters sold under a registry?
Have you ever re-homed a dog? If so, please give a brief description of the circumstances leading up to the rehoming and where the dog went to live afterwards.
Barring serious behavioral or health problems, are you willing to wait until your puppy is over 12 months of age before spaying or neutering?

The first 16 weeks of your puppy’s life are critical. Do you have any vacations planned in which you would not be able to include the puppy and thus would have to leave your puppy with someone other than an immediate family member? If so, when are they?

Contact with Us

Our goal is to remain in contact with our dogs and their owners for the dog’s lifetime. This enables us to provide support and guidance for any issues that arise with the dog but it also allows us to collect information on the health and personality of the dogs in our breeding program. We use text messages, Facebook, and Instagram for most of this contact but also love to meet with Prairie Valley Gundog owners if we are travelling to their area or if they come here.

A telephone conversation will be part of the approval process and there will be a contract to be signed with each puppy. If approved, a $500 deposit will be due at the time of signing our contract with the balance of the purchase price due at puppy pickup.
