  • Treatment Program Outline: Intensive Full Week

Please read and acknowledge before scheduling your appointment.
  • Welcome to the future of naturopathic oncology here at Root Causes Medicine. We are honored to be a part of your cancer journey, and eager to show you how functional medicine can complement your traditional medical care and enhance your overall wellness.

Our Intensive Program, previously called DAP or the Direct Access Program, is an all-day treatment program which fully immerses you in comprehensive care. This program expedites our standard intake process. Intensive patients are also given preferential, priority scheduling and assigned a Patient Care Coordinator who works to enhance your overall patient experience.

As an Intensive Patient, your Plan of Care will include the following appointments.

    • Screening Visit: Your 25-minute screening will be performed by Dr. Lucas Tims, ND, FABNO, our naturopathic oncologist. During this appointment, Dr. Tims will review your diagnosis and treatment goals, and help you determine the best course of action. He may also order lab work for you to complete prior to your arrival. (This appointment will have been conducted via Zoom prior to your arrival for the Intensive, and will have been paid separately.)

    • Intake & Physical Exam: After your screening visit, your Patient Care Coordinator will reach out and discuss your desired timeline to begin treatment. On Day One, you will meet with Dr. Tims and our medical director, Dr. Derek Guillory, MD, who will conduct a physical exam and discuss any supplements and other at-home treatments recommended during your stay with us. The cost of this visit is included in Week One of your program.

    • Treatment Appointments: The program is divided into individual five-day blocks called Intensives. We typically recommend at least two weeks of treatment to begin with.

Your first Intensive will cost $11,500 and include any medications administered by IV or injection, and any supplements you are provided by our Staff. (It does not include supplements recommended for purchase through FullScript.) It will also include regular check-ins with Dr. Tims and/or Dr. Guillory, and the use of certain in-office equipment, including daily hyperbaric oxygen treatments, and hyperthermia (“fever”) therapy as prescribed. Unless contraindicated or not approved by your care team, your first week will also include two sessions of colon hydrotherapy. The cost of the first week also covers the first six months of membership to Root Causes Medicine.

Subsequent Intensives, week two and beyond, will cost $6200 each, and include any medications administered by IV or injection, regular check-ins with Dr. Tims and/or Dr. Guillory, and the use of certain in-office equipment, including daily hyperbaric oxygen treatments, and hyperthermia (“fever”) therapy as prescribed. Additional supplements and colon hydrotherapy may be recommended and purchased separately.

    • Nutrition & Lifestyle Coaching: We strongly recommend meeting with one of our talented Nutrition and Lifestyle Coaches while you are here. One, one-hour appointment is included in your first week of DAP, and the appointment will be conducted via Zoom on the day of your choosing. Additional visits can be purchased as needed at a discounted rate.

    • Spiritual & Emotional Wellness Consultation: During your program, we would also like for you to meet with our staff psychologist, Dr. Luke Schulte-Ovalle, Psy. D., to discuss the importance of your spiritual and emotional health during treatment and beyond. One, one-hour appointment is included in your first week of DAP, and the appointment will be conducted in person on the day of your choosing. Additional visits can be purchased as needed at a discounted rate.

    • Exit Interviews: Finally, before you complete your program, you’ll meet with your Patient Care Coordinator and Dr. Tims to discuss your progress and at-home treatment recommendations. There is no charge for either of these appointments.

    Other Important Items to Remember:

The cost of the Intensive Program does not include any lab fees you may incur based on tests your doctor orders or recommends.

Once treatment has begun, the Intensive Program is non-refundable and non-transferrable. An itemized breakdown of costs will not be provided, and we are unable to code receipts for insurance reimbursement purposes.

Treatments and other items that are contraindicated in your individual case do not affect the total treatment costs as outlined above.

Intensive patients are given priority scheduling, which restricts the availability of certain treatments from our other patients. As a result, any recommended treatments that are not received because of time constraints or absences will not be refunded.

Lastly, you must arrive early enough each day to be able to make yourself comfortable, use the restroom, complete any required paperwork and ask questions. Genereally, we recommend arriving 30 minutes prior to your appointment. While Intensive patients are given priority scheduling, your days will contain numerous treatments and it is imperative that they begin precisely at their scheduled times in order to maximize your treatment day and fit them all in. For example, if your HBOT appointment is at 8:00 AM, you must be in the hyperbaric chamber and ready to begin at 8:00 AM, not arriving at the clinic at 8:00 AM. If you are more than 10 minutes late starting any particular treatment, it may have to be skipped for that day and will not be refunded or rescheduled. Repeated lateness may result in the forfeiture of your place in the Intensive Program, and you will not be entitled to a refund.
