Scholarship Consideration

I have demonstrated financial need and would like to be considered for a scholarship.

Need Based Scholarships
HatchSpace seeks to make our programs accessible to early career & ecomically disadvantaged individuals. We also acknowledge how women, LGBTQIA+ community members, and people of color have historically been underrepresented and undercelebrated in trade and craft careers. With this in mind, a limited number of need-based partial scholarships are available via the HatchSpace Scholarship Fund.

Awards range in amounts up to 75%, though the highest level of awards will be most limited.
We strongly encourage students seeking scholarship funds to apply no later than June 1, 2026.
A $650 deposit is still required at time of registration to hold your seat in the program.
Awards will be determined by June 20 for those who applied by June 1, and any remainder funds distributed on a rolling basis thereafter.

A note to Vermonters and those in neighboring counties:
HatchSpace intensives may be eligible for Vermont Advancement Grants and/or funds provided by the State of Vermont to support the career training of locals. If we believe you may be eligible for one of these programs, we may refer you to additional resources.

Economic Justice Sliding Scale
At HatchSpace we believe that the best person to make a determination about what an individual can reasonably afford is the person themselves, armed with insights that can help them make an informed determination.

With this in mind, HatchSpace utilizes an Economic Justice Sliding Scale to assist us in awarding varying levels of scholarship discounts from 10% to 75% off the listed tuition price.

Step One:

Please read and review the personal financial experience model carefully below.

Step Two:

Consider both (a) your personal financial experience and background in relation to the experiences of others, and (b) HatchSpace's nonprofit status and efforts to offer our programs at accessible rates. The stated tuition is an already discounted rate when compared to our costs of running the program, which is closer to $10,000 per student.

Then, we ask that you submit a suggested discount rate that reflects what would be feasible for you to participate in the program, as well as any other message or information you would like to share to HatchSpace.

HatchSpace will then review your submission with an eye also to the constraints of our organization-wide budget and any donated funds to determine your final award ammount.

Payment Plan Acknowledgement

Our Payment plan distributes the cost of tuition across three installments with payments due on the following schedule:

$650 due at time of registration.
$2,183 due by July 1
$2,183 due by August 1
$2,033 due by September 1

For any student registering on or after June 25, the payment plan will be adjusted to two installments due by July 25 and August 25.

By submitting your $650 deposit, you agree to allow HatchSpace to invoice you for the above listed ammounts in accordance with the schedule above. For those awaiting scholarship determination, any awarded funds will be evenly applied across your installment payments.

Withdrawals, Refunds & Cancellations
A student who withdraws from the course 45 days or more (by July 31) from the start of class will receive 100% of their deposit and fees, less a $95 non-refundable registration fee. No refunds will be issued for withdrawals less than 45 days (August 1 or after) from the start of the class.
