EDINBORO HIGHLAND GAMES RULES OF PLAY
SOLO COMPETITIONS
1. All participating competitors must be registered with the EUSPBA or an EUSPBA-recognized pipe band association. Exceptions:
1) Any Novice competitor (practice chanter or drum pad)
2) Any non-member individual or band, not having previously competed in an EUSPBA- sanctioned games, who joins the EUSPBA at the games and competes.
Registration deadlines must still be met. 2025 EUSPBA rules apply and all decisions by judges, stewards, and other festival officials are FINAL.
2. Soloists will play in the opposite order that the entry forms were received.
No field entries will be accepted.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS SATURDAY, AUGUST 23, 2025.
3. All soloists must check in at the registration table as well as with the contest steward prior to the competition. Registration table opens at 7:30am and will have the final schedule posted.
4. All competitors except Novice pipers and drummers must wear highland dress.
5. Piping solos start promptly at 8:30. Drumming solos start at 9:30. Any soloist not ready to play when called may be disqualified from the contest.
6. Solo drummers are responsible for providing their own pipers. Recordings are permitted for Grade 4, however this also must be provided by the competitor.
7. Solo competitors who are members of bands competing at Edinboro are exempt from massed bands performances although all efforts will be made to schedule band members so they are finished with their solo events in time to report to the warm-up circle prior to the afternoon band competition.
Be sure to indicate your band affiliation if your band is competing at Edinboro.
8. The order of solo events will be emailed to competitors no later than 3 days prior to Sept 6. As a courtesy to those competing and organizing events, should your plans change and you are unable to attend, please email asap so scheduling can be based on reality as much as possible.
