Burning in the St. George Fire Protection District shall be in compliance with LAC 33:III.1109 and E. Baton Rouge Parish Ordinance No. 7390, Section 5:31, No. 8094 Section 5:35.
The following conditions must be met:
1. The location of burning must be at least 1000 feet from any structure other than a structure on the property on which the burning is conducted.
2. Burning may only be conducted between the hours of 8 AM & 5 PM Mon-Friday.
3. Heavy oils, asphaltic materials, items containing natural or synthetic rubber, or any materials other than plant growth, which produce unreasonable amounts of smoke may not be burned; nor may these substances be used to start a fire.
4. Burning must be controlled so that a traffic hazard is not created.
5. The area around the burn site must be cleared of combustibles.
6. Constant attendance is required.
7. There must be a means to extinguish the fire at the burn site.
8. This permit may be revoked for health and/or safety reasons or if burning becomes a public nuisance.
9. Burn Permit application must be submitted to the St. George Fire Prevention Bureau office at least (5) business days in advance of planned burning.
10. A Site Map, Fire Department access location & Extinguishment Plan must be attached to this application.
