  • For your reference, here are the coverage summary brochure (with plan cost and coverage summary), and the full coverage plan (including specific benefits and  exclusions) of the current UA health insurance plan.

    1 = Not important to me. This is an issue that doesn't matter much to you. 

    2 = Protect what I have. This is an issue where existing benefits/policies work well. You don't need/want improvements, but do want to keep what already exists.

    3 = Important/Making improvements would be good. This is an issue you want to see improved.

    4 = Extrememly Important/ Improvement critical. This is an issue that needs urgent improvements. Improvements on this issue are critical.

    Not applicable. This is an issue that doesn't affect you and you don't want to comment upon it.

  • Changes to our plan

  • Here is a brief summary of our current health insurance for a single graduate student (Please view the coverage summary brochure and full coverage document for more details):

    • the "premium" (cost), currently paid 100% by UA, for a single graduate student for a year of health insurance is: $4174
    • for IN-network care:
      • you have to pay the "deductible": the first $400 each year (except for the few things 100% covered)
      • after that, insurance covers 80% of costs (for covered things), untill the 20% you pay adds up to the "out-of-pocket maximum" $3000 (after that they cover 100% of the costs)
    • For OUT-of-network care (with the same caveats above):
      • the deductible is $800
      • after that, insurance covers 70%, untill out-of-pocket maximum of $13,700 is reached. 
    • All "excluded" care is paid 100% by you and does not count toward the out-of-pocket maximums

    As the costs to you (deductable and out-of pocket maximum) go down and the care that is covered goes up, the premium goes up.

We need people to help share this survey with coworkers, and we’ll also need help researching healthcare options, creating proposals, and deepening our community across campus.
