    English 1 Honors is a high level English course. Students must have received a final grade of an A or or B in 8th grade to be in this class.

  • A03 Pre Advanced Placement English 1 Honors

    The most rigorous option for 9th grade. This course prepares students for AP English in 11th and 12th grade. Students must have been in an advanced English class in 8th grade and received a final grade of an A or B.

  • A51, A52, A53, A54  ESOL English

    Students who are enrolled in an ESOL program are required to take this course.

    This is a grade-level course.

  • B02 Algebra 1 Honors

    This is an advanced level course. Students must have earned a final grade of an A or a B in their previous math course.

    This is an advanced level course. Students must have earned an A or B in Honors Biology. The goal of the course is to prepare students for AP science courses in the future.

    This is a grade level course.

  • D02 World History Honors

    An advanced level course for 9th grade students. To be eligible, students should have received an A or B as their final grade in their prior Social Studies

  • D03 AP World History

    The most rigorous option for 9th grade as this is a college-level course. At the end of the year, students are required to take an AP exam, which can lead to college credit. To be eligible for the class, students must have been in an Honors History or Honors English and have received an A or B as a final grade.

  • D27 A.P. Human Geography


    This course introduces students to the systematic study of patterns and processes that have shaped human understanding, use, and alteration of Earth’s surface. Topics include population, culture, urbanization, agriculture, and political organization. Students will take the AP exam at the end of the course, which may lead to college credit.

    This is a required elective for all students participating in the AP Capstone or AP Capstone FIA magnet program.

  • D70/D71 Leadership Skills Development

    In this course, you will learn the leadership skills needed to be successful
    in all areas of your personal, academic, and professional life.

    This is a required elective for all students participating in the iPrep magnet program.

  • C18 AP Environmental Science

    This is an advanced level course. Students must have earned an A or B in prior science course. This course may be taken concurrently with Pre-AP Chemistry. The goal of the course is to expose students to college curriculum while in high school and to prepare students for AP Biology.

  • A13 Journalism 1

    In this course, students will focus on the fundamentals of journalism as they pertain to democracy, reporting, writing, photography and design. Additionally, Journalism 1 focuses on building students’ media literacy skills to help them navigate the modern media landscape with knowledge, common sense and safety.

  • A21/A22 Creative Writing 1 & 2

    In this course, students will strengthen their grammar and sentence structure through imaginative storytelling, while exploring the fundamentals of creative writing. Emphasis will be placed on developing writing skills, crafting vivid characters, and building engaging narratives.

  • J11 Television Production 3

    In this course, students will be responsible for the daily morning announcements broadcast. Students will learn and practice skills in filming, anchoring, and editing, as well as technical skills in lighting and sound design.

  • J01 Principles of Entrepreneurship

    This is the first class (out of 3 classes) in the Academy of Entrepreneurship. At the end of the 3 classes, students can take a test to be a certified Internet Technology Specialist (ITS). In this course, students will build a strong foundation in marketing through hands-on projects that develop technical, communication, and problem-solving skills. They will explore real-world applications in sales, advertising, and customer service to prepare for future careers or further education in the field

     

  • J04 Digital Information & ESPORTS

    In this course, students will explore the Esports industry through hands-on projects focused on production, content creation, and digital tools. They will develop skills in business, marketing, and technology using platforms like spreadsheets, web design, and social media. This course prepares students for careers or further study at the intersection of gaming, media, and tech.

     

  • J06 Digital Design Panther Sports Network (Honors)

    In this course, students will create sports media content to promote Panther athletics using tools like Adobe Express and Canva. Through hands-on, project-based learning, they will design graphics, videos, and social media campaigns that celebrate game days, athletes, and school spirit. Students will work both independently and in teams, gaining experience in sports photography, social media marketing, and graphic design. This course is ideal for students who are interested in sports photography, social media marketing, graphic design, or simply want to be more involved in supporting and showcasing our school’s athletic programs.

  • T01 Health Science Anatomy & Physiology Honors

    In this course, students will begin their journey in the Health Science Academy through the Honors Anatomy & Physiology class. This course prepares students for the next level—Foundations of Health, followed by specialized courses such as Dental Aide and Allied Health. Students who complete the full program will be eligible to sit for the ICE exam to become Certified Medical Administrative Assistants and will also earn their BLS/AED CPR certification.
    This course is designed for students interested in the medical field. The Academy offers a dynamic experience that includes field trips, community service opportunities, and involvement in health-focused organizations such as the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS), HOSA–Future Health Professionals, and the LEO Club. Students also participate in medical competitions with other schools and help coordinate campus blood drives, gaining hands-on experience while building their leadership and teamwork skills.

  • T05 Early Childhood 1

    Early Childhood is a four-level CTE program that teaches students about early childhood development and working with young children. Students who enjoy Level One and wish to continue learning about working with young children have the opportunity to advance in the program the following year, gaining real-world, hands-on experience in local preschools and elementary schools.

    Those who complete the full program pathway earn Department of Children and Families certifications, CPR, and CDA accreditation, certifying them to work in an early childhood setting. In addition to this, Miami-Dade County Public Schools has an articulation agreement with Miami Dade College in which students who complete all four levels of the program will receive 9 college.

  • M15- Concert Orchestra

    Non-Audition Orchestra-fee and materials required.
    In this course, students with no experience in string instruments will learn the basics of reading and playing music and perform in three annual concerts.

  • M19- Chamber Orchestra Honors

    Audition-Only Orchestra - fee and materials required.
    Students with 2+ years of string instrument experience should email Ms. Ventura at sventura@dadeschools.net to schedule an audition. This group travels to competitions and performs for community events.

  • M23- Guitar 1

    In this course, students will learn the fundamentals of playing the guitar, including proper technique, simple and full-strum chords, strumming patterns, and basic music theory. They will also explore different musical styles and gain foundational skills in reading music notation. No prior experience is necessary.

     

  • M27- Beginning Band

    This is a course for  students who are interested in learning an instrument. Students do not need any experience. Instruments included are flute, clarinet, saxophone, french horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, and percussion.

  • M29- Concert Marching Band 3Concert Marching Band 3

    This course is designed for students who have at least one year of experience playing their instrument
    in a concert band. Students must know how to read music. 
    There are three performance opportunities (minimum).

  • N02/N15-3D Art 1 /Ceramics

    The 3D Art course introduces students to creating art in three dimensions, exploring various materials, techniques, and concepts, while developing skills in sculpture, architecture, and other related fields.

    The Ceramics 1 course is an introduction to the basic skills required to build utilitarian and sculptural pottery. Students will make art based on traditional pottery methods.

  • N03- Painting 1

    This foundations painting course introduces, explores and develops a student's color theory, knowledge and application of different painting and drawing mediums. Additionally, students shall recognize and demonstrate quality craftsmanship and successfully engage within the critical thinking component required to effectively create and design works of art based on established criteria.

  • N07-Photography 1

    The objective of this class is to educate students to “see” more intelligently and to understand and appreciate craft as it applies to black and white photography. In the process they will learn how to use their camera to the best of their ability and learn different editing techniques.

  • N21-Acting 1 (Beginning)

    This is a BEGINNING Acting class for Freshmen & Sophomore students. No experience necessary.
    Students will learn theatre terminology and history.Throughout this course, students will participate in Drama activities to build confidence and new skills. Performance based assessments.

  • N31-Theater 1 (Intermediate)

    This is an INTERMEDIATE Musical Theatre class for freshmen & sophomores with prior experience. Teacher recommendation required. This course has an emphasis on Musical Theatre and students are able to compete in Thespian Festivals and performances

  • N25-Stagecraft 1

    This is course is a Technical Theatre Design course and open to all grade levels. Students will study artistic theatrical design for costumes, marketing, make-up and set-design practical design and implementation in lighting, sound and prop design. Students are allowed to compete in Thespian Festivals.Please note that it is REQUIRED
    to participate in extra-curricular shows for practical experience.

  • N41-Dance Level 1

    This course is designed for students to develop basic to complex movement as well as movement concepts from Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and more. Emphasis will be placed on technique, movement skills, knowledge, history, and aesthetics of each dance style, while also learning components of health-related fitness.
