  • Next, you need to find your device's model number INSIDE the enclosure.

    • Since you have an external hard drive, first disassemble the enclosure and remove the bare hard drive.
    • Then, locate the model number on your device's label.

  • Next, you need to locate the SSD's model number.

    • The model number should be located on the SSD's label. 
    • If you aren't sure which number is the "model," it's okay to provide us with several potential "model numbers."'

  • Next, you need to locate the hard drive's model number.

    • The model number we need is only visible on the hard drive's label.
    • If your hard drive is inside your computer, it needs to be removed first.

  • Next, you need to locate the device's model number.

    • If there is no label or model number on the device, write a description instead (e.g., "Generic 32GB Flash Drive," "Sandisk 64GB MicroSD," "Sony XQD 128GB"). 
    • For most laptops (including all Mac laptops), look on the bottom of the device. Macs have a model starting with "A" (e.g., A1465).

  • Next, you need to locate the phone's model number. If possible, write the make/model ("Samsung Galaxy S5") and the specific model number ("SM-G800").

    Here are some common locations where you can find the model number:

    • Back Cover: On many phones, you can find the model number printed on the back cover. Look for a label, engraved text, or printed information that includes the model number of the device. 

    • Battery Compartment: For phones with removable batteries, you might find the model number printed or etched inside the battery compartment. Remove the back cover and inspect the inside of the compartment to locate the model number.

    • Settings Menu: If the display still works, you can often find the model number in the device's settings menu. Go to the "Settings" app, then navigate to the "About Phone" or "About Device" section. Look for the "Model number" or a similar option. Tapping on it should display the model information.

    • If you still can't find the model number, click "NO" to the next question, and you'll be prompted to upload photos of the phone.
