Communal living can be a dream— or a nightmare. But what is needed to make it work for folks with disabilities, and how can non disabled folks learn to work better with disability? After all, if you are lucky enough to live long enough, or just to make it through accidents, injuries, and all the slings and arrows the flesh is heir to (thank you, Hamlet), you will be disabled too. It is only a matter of when and for how long. Please join this fascinating conversation!

Molly Freedenberg is a writer, journalist, and advocate with more than 20 years of experience in communal living, arts collectives, nonprofits, and countercultural movements. Her advocacy work centers on disability justice, ME/CFS and Long COVID, and fostering ethical, inclusive, and accountable communities. She writes the Substack Well, Actually.

Andrea Jennings, M.Mus. is a filmmaker, pop culture TV host, spoken word artist, and accessibility strategist. She is the founder of Shifting Creative Paradigms – Leveling the Playing Field®, a multimedia company advancing disability inclusion through storytelling, film, music, and policy. Andrea is a contributor to Easterseals, a commissioner on Pasadena’s Accessibility and Disability Commission, and a 2023 inaugural member of Coro’s Housing & Houselessness Leadership Network (HHLN) cohort.

Priya Ray is the founder of DIYabled. She believes that creating activities through the DIY mindset can spark conversations, raise awareness, and help create innovative solutions that make the world more inclusive. Accessibility is not just a set of rules but rather a creative process that invites everyone to contribute, adapt, and build a more equitable world for people of all abilities.
