The Watson Dream Catcher Scholarship is dedicated to supporting and empowering African American students who aspire to break barriers in careers, service, and/or sports where African Americans are underrepresented. This scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior or undergraduate student who demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to making a difference in their chosen field. It is sponsored by UOO Charter Member Robyn Davis Watson.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be an African American high school senior or undergraduate student at an accredited college or university
- Attend high school in Richland School District Two or Lexington-Richland School District Five or former graduate of Richland Two or Lexington-Richland School District Five
- Must be pursuing a major, playing in a sport, or planning a career in an underrepresented field for African Americans
- Must exhibit leadership, perseverance, and a dedication to achieving their dreams
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Provide documentation of involvement in community activities and service projects
- Submit a four-paragraph essay in response to the essay prompt
