- Immediately report any injury that occurs during my volunteer service to the officer-in- charge (OIC) and complete any injury-associated forms that are required to be completed.
- Always demonstrate unwavering commitment to your volunteer service. Adhere and abide by all department policies and procedures as outlined in the volunteer manual.
- Uphold the confidentiality of sensitive information with the utmost care. Embrace supervision and training opportunities; do not hesitate to inquire about policies and procedures that remain unclear.

Volunteers who work with animals understand that they may need the following abilities:
a.Dexterity & Coordination: Possess sufficient dexterity and coordination to perform tasks such as opening kennel/cage doors and securely leashing/harnessing an animal.
b.Mobility & Balance: Maintain the ability to walk unassisted on uneven terrain, including rugged and potentially slippery surfaces, as required for outdoor dog walking and grounds maintenance.
c. Physical Stamina & Flexibility: Exhibit the physical stamina to stand for extended periods and the flexibility to bend, squat, and lift animals of varying sizes.
d.Visual Acuity: Possess sufficient visual acuity to navigate the facility safely and accurately observe animal behavior and body language.
e.Auditory Acuity: Possess sufficient auditory acuity to detect animal vocalizations, including sounds indicating distress, fear, or pain.
f.Communication Skills: Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, fellow volunteers, and the public.
g.Animal Handling & Restraint: Possess the physical strength, coordination, and judgment necessary to safely handle and interact with dogs, cats, and other companion animals of varying sizes, requiring quick reflexes, mental alertness, and steadiness.
h.Immune System: Understand the potential risks associated with zoonotic diseases and illnesses such as ringworm, giardia, and others.
i.Comprehension & Compliance: Demonstrate the ability to comprehend and follow instructions and established procedures.
j. Judgement: Exhibit sound judgment and emotional stability when working with animals, including the ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in potentially stressful or dangerous situations.
