    (James 2:21)

  • 3. Question: What did this work of offering up Isaac show?

    (James 2:21)

    Answer

  • Therefore, we see that if we have faith in God, then we will act according to

the Word of God. That action is called works.

    4. Question: What did this work of offering up Isaac, according to the Word of God, do for Abraham's faith?

    (James 2:22)

  • 5. Question: What is your interpretation of

    (James 2:22)?

  • 6. Question: How did Abraham receive or inherit the promises of God?

    (Hebrews 6:12)

  • Faith is leaning on the entire personality of God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness, and patience as endurance and waiting.

We have seen then, that faith means more than believing that the Word is true, but it means acting on the Word received.

    7. Question: What characterised Abraham's reaction to God's Word?

    (Genesis 22:1-3)

  • We see an example of how Abraham's faith was completed or made perfect by the name he gave to the Lord.

    8. Question: What is that name and what does it mean?

    (Genesis 22:14)

  • 9. Question: Because of Abraham's work of obedience which showed his

faith in God, what blessing did he receive?

    (Genesis 22:16-18)

    Answer

  • 10. Question: What else did this kind of faith bring to Abraham?

    (James 2:23)

    Answer

  • This act of obedience was accounted to him as righteousness, and conforming to the will of God's in thought and deed, and he was called God's friend.

To be called a friend of God then, we see that we must have, the faith of Abraham, or the obedience of Abraham. This is the faith that acts on the Word of God.
