Theme: Camino al Cambio: Celebrating Identity and Shaping the Future
Now in its 20th year, the annual LMSA National Conference aims to bring high school students, pre-medical undergraduates, medical students, residents, practicing physicians, faculty, and LMSA alumni together to discuss how to best meet the needs of the diverse communities we serve. This event serves as a forum to discuss key topics in healthcare, from health inequities and language barriers to leadership development and healthcare policy. In addition, the Conference helps support trainees with workshops covering strategies for success in medical school and beyond.
The theme of LMSA NC2025, “Camino al Cambio: Celebrating Identity and Shaping the Future” celebrates our resilience and ever-expanding presence. We share a unique strength in our Latine identity—an understanding rooted in resilience and culture that is essential for the care of our communities. This event honors our backgrounds, identities, and those who have paved the way for us, while providing the tools to become well-rounded professionals who deliver culturally competent care and advocate passionately within our respective fields. As we look toward the future, we envision even greater strides in LHS+ representation and leadership in medicine, embodying the change we wish to see.
Our goals are as follows:
Foster Mentorship: Strengthen mentorship and networking to increase representation, build a reflective workforce, and improve the health outcomes for LHS+ communities.
Enhance Cultural Competency: Provide a global perspective to raise awareness of challenges affecting immigrant communities, foster advocacy, and strengthen patient connections.
Advance Preparedness: Provide practical experiences and exposure within a wide variety of medical specialties that equip attendees with the skills and guidance needed to excel in their respective paths.
