• Carol Maclary Excellence in Education Scholarship

    Guidelines:

    1. Applicants for this scholarship do NOT have to be an education major.
    2. Applicants may apply for this scholarship multiple times.  Winning one year doesn’t disqualify a candidate from applying again in the following years.
    3. All materials submitted must be “new.”  The essay and letters of recommendation must be written within the last year.  Submitting the same essay or letters of recommendation as the previous year will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the scholarship.

    • PART II: Educational Leadership Essay (60 percent) 
    • 1. Describe your involvement with education. Select two problems that you see in education and explain how you think they could be fixed. (Your essay should be approximately 500 words typed on one side of an 8 ½ by 11 paper using 10- or 12-point font.)

      2. Be sure to include what motivates your interest in the areas you chose to study and what goals you have set for yourself.

    • PART III: Academic Record (20 percent) 
    • 1. Applicants currently enrolled in a two-year college, college/universary, or graduate school must submit transcripts of ALL grades. Online transcripts and grade reports ARE ACCEPTABLE

      2. Applicants who have completed two years or less of college or post-secondary education MUST also submit a complete high school transcript of grades.

      3. High School Seniors and applicants who have never enrolled in college MUST include a complete high school transcript of grades.

      4. All transcripts MUST include a legend for all grades.

      5.  All transcripts MUST be legible.

    • PART IV: Letters of Recommendation (20 percent) 
    • 1. TWO letters of recommendation are required from individuals who are in a position to evaluate you. Both letters must include the writer’s name, address, and telephone number.
      2. These letters must be signed by the author of the letter.
      3. Both letters must be written and dated within the last year.

    • PART V: Application Checklist / Submission Information 
    • The application for this scholarship becomes complete and valid only when you have submitted all of the following:*

If required, I agree to give proof of the information I have given on this form. Falsification of information may result in termination of any scholarship granted. This application becomes the property of the Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization.

    • A committee approved by Ken Maclary and the Miss Delaware Scholarship Organization has the sole responsibility for selecting recipients based on the criteria set forth above. Through your submission of the application and accompanying materials, you agree that the decisions made by this committee are final. Award recipients will be announced at the Miss Delaware Competition.
