• Thank you for considering volunteering at Sinks Canyon Trail Races! All course marking will happen on Friday, June 6th and Course Sweeping will begin on Saturday. Course sweeps must travel in pairs. If you wish to sweep with a familiar partner, ask them to signup with you. If you don't mind meeting someone new, signup indivually.

  • Course Marking

    • Time: Anytime on Friday

    1. Collect flagging from course coordinator the week of the race and attend briefing. 
    2. Mark the course with a pink flag every ¼ mile, considering the line of sight. Flags should always be placed beyond an intersection if the course does not turn. If the course is turning at an intersection, use a minimum of 4 flags, creating an arc to show the path. Place an additional flag in sight from the intersection. 
    3. Use blue X flags to make the “wrong way.” These flags are useful if the course makes a hard turn.
    4. Report any course conditions to Ellen and return addional flagging. 

  • Course Sweeps 

    • Report to: Race Directors at Start/Finish or Captains at aid station location.

    1. Course sweeps will meet at the scheduled time and location. Sweeps will begin oncethe previous course sweep arrives at the aid station, or 15 minutes after the start of the race.
    2. Course marking can be removed in SOME sections. Please read section details carefully. A course sweeping breifing will be held the week before the race. 
    3. Ensure all runners have made it through the section safely to the next aid station. 
    4. Communicate where abouts to aid station and start/finish with inReach or cell phone.
    5. Communicate any injuries to SAR if emergency procedures should be initiated.
    6. Return all course marking to Ellen (course coordinator). Please keep each section separate.
