Salamanca Arts Centre (SAC) is currently seeking applications for inclusion in the Long Gallery Gallery 2027 Calendar.
This is your invitation to be part of a significant story:
Salamanca Arts Centre invites artists and arts organisations to contribute to its 50th Anniversary program in 2027, marking five decades of creativity, community and cultural significance in Tasmania. This landmark celebration will honour the history of SAC’s iconic heritage buildings, the artists and communities who have shaped its legacy, and its ongoing role in supporting contemporary arts practice. Participants are encouraged to consider how their work might respond to the Centre’s past, present and future, and to be part of a high-profile year of exhibitions, performances and public activity.
More information about SAC50 can be found here.

Principally a visual arts exhibition space, the famous Long Gallery is the largest gallery space at Salamanca Arts Centre, yet has an intimacy and warmth that is hard to beat.
Originally a store for whaling products, then filled with can-labelling machinery during the jam factory days, the Long Gallery has provided the backdrop to countless exhibitions, conventions, balls, auctions, recitals, workshops, product launches and live performances. It is located on the first floor of the Centre.
For more information on exhibiting in the Long Gallery, including Venue Hire Rates for 2026 and the Conditions of Hire (PDF), please visit the SAC website prior to submitting your application.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE CONCERNING LIFT REPLACEMENT
SAC has been informed by KONE, the company selected to replace SAC's current lift by the Department of Natural Resourses and the Environment (NRE), that there has been a delay in the replacement program. The works are now scheduled to commence:
FEBRUARY 2027 to be completed around: MAY 2027
There will be no operational lift for the duration of the works. The works will compromise all access facilities to upper floors and the movement of heavy goods. Tenants and venue hirers are requested where possible to plan for the suspension of lift services by timetabling the movement of goods between floors to before or after the planned interruption.
Tenants and venue hirers also please note that during the lift replacement operations, the Courtyard will have restricted access on account of the plant and movement of equipment and for the security of plant and equipment. Access may vary during the lift replacement process.
SAC will undertake to keep tenants and hirers informed of the replacement process by passing on all relevant information updates from NRE and KONE.
