•  Buser Family Foundation Gold Award Scholarship Application

  • GSNEO has received generous funding from the Buser Family Foundation to award one $2,000 scholarship annually to a Gold Award Girl Scout, who is also part of National Honor Society, who meets the qualifications outlined below. Scholarship awards will be granted to individuals who excel academically, demonstrate proven leadership impact, and commit to continued community service/engagement to make a difference in the community.

     

    ALL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY APRIL 15

  • Eligibility Requirements

    • Currently registered girl member of Girl Scouts of the USA through Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. Alum and adults do not qualify
    • Gold Award Girl Scout and/or Member of National Honor Society in High School
    • Member of Girl Scouts for three (3) years including Junior and Senior years of High School
    • Recommended minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on 4.0 scale
    • Full-time undergraduate student with a commitment to a 4 year degree 
  • Selection Process

    A screening committee composed of Girl Scout staff and volunteers will evaluate all applications and essays based upon the following criteria:

    • Application completion
    • Girl Scout involvement
    • Extracurricular and community activities
    • Written essay
    • Content of letters of recommendation (2)
    • Grade point average and scholastic achievement

    Notification of scholarship awards will be made by June 1st of each year.

  • Conditions of Scholarship

    The scholarship recipient will be eligilble to receive their scholarship after graduation from high school and must utilize the award within one year of high school graduation.

    The scholarship must be used to attend an accredited institution of higher learning as stated above.

    Girl Scouts of North East Ohio will make disbursement when the student provides verification of registration (minimum of 12 credit hours) for the term in which the funds will be used.

    Awardees must complete a minimum of 50 hours of service in community as noted on www.InnerView.org (Free to Students) during high school.

    Awardees must also continue actively with Girl Scouts

    Two (2) letters of recommendation are required to support this application. These letters should attest to specific contributions you have made through your leadership, as well as specific achievements that support the impact of your leadership. The letters of recommendation must be from one (1) non-related Girl Scout adult and one (1) non-related adult who have personally witnessed your success.

    Note: Applications that do not have a letter of recommendation from a registered Girl Scout adult will be disqualified.
